@Poly Ranger- Insult my meta all you like but I'd seriously question your own if your playing against marine armies that don't contain a shield eternal/LOW EW tank in them.

And to your second inquiry, I don't expect a unit to guarantee a return on its full investment, but at 360pts that unit sure as heck needs to be durable if it doesn't, and that unit is not, and notice vindicators no longer come stock with a storm bolter, meaning it's incredibly easy to cripple that units gimick for the cost.

It's also about the size of the unit, it's a hull mounted direct fire gun with awful range, so the unit needs to be deployed smack in the center of your lines and must move out front at a piddly 6" if it wants to fire. It's a massive cork in your line that helps things like chapter masters and MC's get free movement in the assault phase when they neuter the unit and get closer to your backfield, they also block LOS for those units your requiring for cracking rhinos. Or I suppose you can leave them in your back field and they are a 360pt deterrent until one loses its weapon.

Again, I have tried it and it is a massive point sink.

@HawaiiMatt- Eldrich storm is an entirely different monster. Its on a jetseer that can move twice the speed, cast the power reliably and then turbo to safety every fething turn, on top of all the other utility powers the unit generates. Apples to Oranges.

With armor 11 on the sides and a 24" range, you're not going to get many Apoc shots off before you lose a tank. Still, the remaining tanks firing S10/AP2 large blasts doesn't suck.

360 points for arguably 1 Apoc shot seems like a lot.
