I've got a crone that I'm planning on building in the new year...

I'm going to steal your idea and put the tentaclids on the top of the wings... that looks awesome.

A friend of mine organized a painting day, and I finally finished off those gargoyles! (one flying stand is currently under repair. Its magnet broke off)

At the same time I also did some ripper swarms.
I didn't want to spend much time on the ripper carapace plates, or it would have driven me insane. So I half-assed them by skipping some layers, and lazily brushed on the rest.

Gargoyles look good, nice job on getting all those gargoyles finished up! I have a bunch that I need to do as well.

Ripper swarms look good as well, carapace still fits in with rest of hive so, well done on saving yourself some time

But here's a Patriarch.

Been a while, once again.
But here are some raveners.

They die in droves for things in the price range of terminators, but I've been having fun with them lately.
Even with terrible saves, Beasts are a good unit type. Given the armies theme of biological monsters, tyranids should have more of them. Its kinda weird that raveners are the only beasts they have access to.

Really nice work- love the blue of the carapace especially! I'm another fan of Raveners- just such really cool models!

They look great, the blue really pops.

You're so right that Nids should have more beast unit types considering nature of the army.

Thanks all, I'll try to keep this updated.
Probably won't be any more space bugs anytime soon though. As I have just received a vast number of Zombicide zombies/survivors, soon to be followed by a horde of eldritch monstrosities when The Others arrives in a few weeks.

Urgh.

Welp, definitely no more bugs for a while.
On the bright side I painted an ugly blob zombie!

But I didn't care enough to get out the light tent for it, so enjoy this awful photo. Also the base isn't finished, or really even started. I chucked some paint on there in literally 5 minutes during lunch break at work, to get it ready for a game that evening. Might redo the base sometime, might not.

Also I painted some ugly Greed monsters!

These were really fun to paint, and I'm looking forward to painting more (and I have many many more)

However, I temporarily lost my mind and agreed to assemble these for a friend.

That is six Lucius Pattern drop pods, to go with the three he already owns. They need to be pinned together, as the existing three are always falling apart. At least I don't have to paint them.
There are giant blocks of resin that need to be cut off, dozens of fiddly pins I need to cut, and holes I need to drill for them. This is going to be a lot of work.

The main problem with these things is that the doors are heavy enough that they can damage the model if they drop open. Commonly snapping off at the hinge.
I have pinned hinges on them in the past. You have to be very careful doing it, as the piece of resin holding it on is rather small, and a mis-aligned pin can put a lot of pressure on it. Once again snapping it off. I'll have to experiment, and see if I can find some way to reinforce the hinge, and/or make the doors less prone to falling open.

Taking a break from pods, and painting some more horrible eldritch monstrosities

This is Pride.

The new genestealer cult codex is making me want to paint the rest of my deathwatch overkill box...

A bit tired of painting little cultists, so I went and did a big bug.
I've had this one sitting unassembled in storage for about 2 years. Good to finally get it done.

I'm thinking I might try and add some drool around the chest maw using a hot glue gun. I've seen that stringy hot glue effect used like that before, and it looks pretty neat.

As someone who has been debating the merits of getting this model for my own fleet, you go and post this... I'm even more keen to get one now, your's looks awesome!

In regards to the drool, I'd say give it a go as it would really make the chest maw stand out. Just my 2c anyway.

It's a great model, but not the easiest to assemble. That chest maw does not fit together very well, but I was able to fix most of it with putty.
The instructions had that round bit under the tentacle facing up the other way, but there was no way I could fit it in like that. Still not sure how it's supposed to look, but the way I put it together works well enough.

It's going to be a nightmare to transport.
I magnetized the arms, which should help fit it into a box. But there wasn't much I could do about the tail...

Chest busting good!

I really like the black hood and how it blends into the blue.
