Subject: New KOW converts sound off. Whatcha playing/converting from?
I had a drawer full of dusty broken Tomb Kings and Vamp Counts units. About 2 people i knew played fantasy, so it was always on the back burner. Then the Dresden that was AOS happened, suddenly there's 5 friends of mine interested Kings, one of them is even commissioning an army from me! Frankly, I haven't been this exited to play a new game in years.
I notice my posts seem to bring threads to a screeching halt. Considering the content of most threads on dakka, you're welcome.

Dark Elves were my main army and they will become Twilight Kin. I have a lot of models to choose from and they are nearly all (badly) painted.
I have a decent sized Chaos Dwarf army also. I never got Bull Centaurs or K'daii though. I plan to use mantics Golems and Halfbreeds to fill out my army. I should be able to get it up to 2k in KoW.
I have a lot of Skaven somewhere in my house, but they are on the back burner.
I'd be more likely to start the Reptilians whenever they come out.
I find myself eyeing Dreadball now also. Blood Bowl is one of my favorite games, I know I'd like Dreadball a lot too.
Playing: Droids (Legion), Starks (ASOIAF), BB2
Working on: Starks (ASOIAF), Twilight Kin (KoW). Droids (Legion)
Not exactly a new convert, but after watching and plotting my way through the entirety of KOW v1 without getting to play very much at all, things are looking up. My fiancee recently agreed to play some wargames with me, and I'm going to use Kings of War as my intro game! Because I am overexcited at the prospect of a soon to be live in gaming partner, I went and made a beginner list using the lists online for every army currently available.

Just starting up some Ratkin/Not Skaven. Always liked the miniatures, bought a battalion from GW last year, just in time to watch the world end. Literally haha. I'm got 80 rats right now that I'm gradually working on. Looking forward to playing something new on the fantasy front!
My GF and my two little nieces play after I introduced it to them. They really like it!! Quick easy but with depth...
I modify by bringing the armies and letting them choose (x) amounts of individual units in order to save time...It takes more time to pick but they like the speed.
I took out banners and musicians (no worries anymore).
They can play games without supervision and the rules after a while!

For even more fun, try two forces of two 1,500 elements each - four players, two sides... and experience the fun of communications breakdown! (For even more fun, try written communications only....)
Believe it or not, it really is fun... though the couple we were playing against were getting close to strangling each other. (His wife had to deal with an ally that was Leroy Jenkins at heart.)

The reason I bought rules and became a real wargamer was because I wanted a properly thought out structure to govern the action instead of just making things up as I went along.

I've been working on my Free Company for the past couple days. Biggest project was cutting the empire spearmen and resulting the arms into a marching position for the back ranks.
Only ever really played steampunk or more advanced settings previously but my mad collection contains lots of sword and sorcery and I'd started 2 or 3 fantasy detachments previous to jumping on the KS for Abbysals and Nature.
As for what I'm converting I'm Turning my old lizardmen into Nature reinforcements, the myriad demons will grow my Abbysal host, and orcs and beastmen are allies for both.
Unfortunately I'd also been accumulating undead and then ZCBP hit and I fell for it. I now have the beginnings and a plan for a massive undead horde with many large centerpiece models.
