No, you did not get scammed, it is your fault for believing in rumours. They are just rumours. For all we know GW never planned a Kroot release at all.

Tactical squad=10 highly detailed tiny miniatures. This requires a lot of work to produce such intricate sprues. A good profit margin.


Random Giant Monster and/or Robot=is one enormous model with embellishments much easier to produce. A obese, morally reprehensible profit margin.

I dont think the Tau or Kroot will get new basic troops. They'll likely get a huge robot or creature. Theres a lot more money to be made in big kits. Id be suprised if there was a kroot merc army. Last time it was just a white dwarf article.

Kroot is ok, but used to be a rare mid level cc unit. Now they are just a weird sniper unit.

They will probably not be removed, as they are 1 out of 2 troop choices. I think vespids are closer to being removed, though why they would remove units are beyond med.

With the likes of a Knights or Admech or Militarum Tempestus getting their own book anything is possible. Kroot getting thier own book? Maybe? We are approaching all the books being updated to 7th so GW will need some filler books.

The ground work is there from the old Chapter approved merc list. New models? a box of 3 Krootox in plastic would be nice or Knarloc riders in plastic with rules that are not a turd would be great.

Did you waste money buying new Kroot? I doubt it. Kroot still come in a box of 16. I assume at next tau release that box will get downsized, so you probably saved yourself money.
