Never seen Night at the Museum, but I think that Zoolander was a great film in spite of Stiller and Wilson. Sort of like how Tropic Thunder was funny in spite of Stiller and Black.

The Night at the Museum's were all decent movies.
Nice little family films, but nothing super special.

Someone on the East Coast made an observation about Comedians:
Look at their political ideologies.
We find that the more insane (or conservative) their political ideologies are, the worse they are as a comedian.
Sandler and the "Paul Blart: Mall Cop" guy... Both conservatives.
Robert Schnieder: Insane Conspiracy Theorist.
Dennis Miller pre/post - 9/11: Went from being a witty, erudite fringe comedian to being a neocon, cave-troll.
Others tend to fit the pattern (Jim Carrey, for instance, as he becomes more lured into Extremist-Leftist Politics and Conspiracies).
Sandler's movies tend to fit this notion.

Well, Comdedy tends to have to push boundries, and not the good to push boundries like fart jokes, but difficult boundries.

Midnight in Paris, School of Rock and Wes Anderson movies are pretty good.

Every part of the advertising for the film made me think, "That movie will probably end up terrible."
I'm disappointed reviews are coming in poor. I wanted it to be good too

Yeah, I think there's a big difference between movies that Sandler, Black, Owen Wilson got made as star vehicles that are all about their branded kind of stupid comedy, and movies in which these people are just actors. I won't go and see any of the stupid comedies that they star in, but they've all be perfectly good starring in other people's movies. Vince Vaughn is probably the best example - the movies where he stars with Wilson or someone like that are all excrement, but when he he actually sets about acting in a proper movie he's really quite good.
And Ben Stiller's career is actually pretty interesting. He's directed a few pretty decent films, and shouldn't just be remembered for his crappier 'Ben Stiller antics' movies like Zoolander.

“We may observe that the government in a civilized country is much more expensive than in a barbarous one; and when we say that one government is more expensive than another, it is the same as if we said that that one country is farther advanced in improvement than another. To say that the government is expensive and the people not oppressed is to say that the people are rich.”

I think Zoolander was a movie that most people didn't get.
If you have ever dated a professional model, or been a professional model, you will get a lot of jokes that otherwise will be missed (subtle things).
I could have done without Will Farrell being cast as the character he was cast as, but there is ALWAYS one of those in the business (some fat guy wearing a corset, who dresses way too over-the-top for their figure, and probably, when they were younger, they could get away with it (barely, but you would only know if you knew them when they were younger), but now they are just clinging hopelessly to lost glory....).... I just don't like Will Farrell, and it is difficult to do an unbiased critique of his work (Anchorman remains the only thing he has done with really any decent writing in it, and that was all done by others - Stiller, for instance, wrote the Newscaster Brawl scene).

Quality in an Adam Sandler movie can be summed up in two words; Adam Sandler. Always seems to get good concepts then completely fall down the stairs when it comes to execution.

I think Adam Sandlers is a good comedy actor when he is under someone else's control. When he is the star/producer it seems that we end up with stinkers.
But I think he has pretty much admitted that he sees these movies as a way to get a paid vacation for him and his friends.

Nothing about this movie looked interesting in the trailers.
Not even Tyrion Lannister can make me want to watch this movie.
