Yeah I'm not completely sold on it, but the method works. I'm thinking of doing it with black over trevors wings though. Januine mentioned that using pva before the crackle makes the cracks bigger, which is tempting

That's interesting, that you've achieved the veiny look on the flyrant's wings with crack medium?

I want to get a battleforce done for Armies on Parade, so I found an old Eldar battleforce, and did this to it.

Super cool camo pattern on that speeder and same goes for the nebula on the wave serpent.

Very cool digital camo. Love that. Welcome back. Hope the kids are treating you well in lockdown. Any little locks into playing daddy's games?

The kids, some career shuffling, a renovation (I now have a proper paint station, not a cupboard), this covid stuff - it's been a wild ride.

My eldest is 9, she quite likes a paint - haven't really had the opportunity to sit with her, but reaper bones minis are absolutely amazing for kids - cheap, indestructible, interesting sculpts. We've played space hulk a couple of times, but I've never actually played a game of 40k - maybe when they're a bit older, and I finally get some painted units, we'll learn together.

This LSS has been on the shelf for years, it might even be in this blog somewhere when I started it. The scouts will also have digital camo fatigues. It's funny how long I put off doing it because it seemed impossibly difficult, only to start and bash it out in a couple of hours.

It was always fear of imperfection that stopped me, I realised that I'm stressing about painting plastic dolls perfectly and stopped worrying about it

Back now for Rowrowrowyourboat Gentlydownthestreamlyman

I stripped out all the swirls because a) they made me mad, and b) I hate myself. It actually seems to have worked, I was really worried about the top bird thing because the concave shape looked really horrible - smoothed out nicely though.

I reckon it'll be classic blue, with gold trim and white highlights. Might go completely mental and try the NMM gold, BECAUSE WHY NOT?

I accept that there are a LOT of people better then me, but also a lot worse. I figure if my mediocre talent can inspire people to work up to my level, maybe they can surpass me and aim for the big guys. But just going straight for the top is intimidating and out of reach.

Do what you can, at the pace you can, and just try to push yourself to improve from time to time. This is a fun hobby, not a job. Leave stress for the workplace.

Any painted mini rescued from the pile of shame is a victory.

Courage and Honour!

I never really worried about competing with other people, more what I imagined as perfection in my head. The same reason why I avoided painting certain models because I "wouldn't be able to do them justice" or something silly like that. Not really sure what happened, but I realised that I don't care, which was remarkably freeing, I thoroughly recommend it!
