I got a decent deal on a DE battleforce. Saved me maybe 20 bucks off what it would be in the next cheapest place.

Oooh man, what a great day to come across this thread! I just got back (yesterday) from the Endgame (Oakland CA) semi-regular-ish minis swap meet. Man was I stoked! All of the stuff was Games Workshop

For a friend, I threw down $50 and picked up these guys (all new in box):
Lizard man battalion box
2 x Stegadon box (they are different a sizes?)
Slann Mage priest
Plastic Sauris old blood blister
Lord kroq-gar on carnisaur
Some croxigors (metal guys, these weren't new, but not primed, not painted, just built and glued to their bases)
Prophet of sotek blister
Jungle swarm blister

For $40 I picked up a huge pile of elves:
1 high elf chariot, metal & plastic
5 high elf cavalry (island of blood)
20 high elf infantry (island of blood)
45 high elf spearmen (crummy single pose old plastic)
12 high elf cavalry, metal & plastic
15 high elf cavalry in a different style, metal & plastic
44 high elf archers (crummy single pose old plastic)
10 high elf swordmasters of hoeth, metal
23 high elf halberdiers, metal (can't remember what these guys are called)
21 high elf 2-handed ax, metal (same. lion dudes?)
23 high elf leaders, command, randos, metal

For $20 I picked up these, painted to a respectable table top standard (I will make the bases nicer, but aside from that, they're ready to go):
10 Chaos knights mounted, metal & plastic
10 metal undead dire wolf guys

And finally, for $30, I got these orcs and gobbos all nicely magnetized (with a free cookie tray thrown in to hold down the magnetized dudes!):
23 night goblins on sprue (Battle for Skull Pass guys)
1 metal goblin on giant spider - I had no idea about this guy when I made the offer, but found him in the box later and dang he's cool
3 goblin fanatics, magnetized (Battle for Skull Pass guys, I think?)

36 night goblins with spears, magnetized (Battle for Skull Pass guys)
2 metal goblin leaders

Man. $90 and three of my armies got some serious reinforcements (and $50 and my friend got nearly a whole army!)

PS at the last minis swap (about 2 years ago) I picked up a Baneblade for $15 with the foam tray (those foam trays are more than $15, lol!) right at the end. The guy was begging me to take it (I don't play 40K, but the model was so freakin' cool, I bought it... Ended up giving it to a friend who plays IG)

The reason I dont shop at Games Workshop is because Chaos Space Marines are plentiful on Ebay, If I was to go for someone like Grey Knights then I'd buy them new. But a Land Raider for £11 thats primed in black rather than £45 then you need to base coat and glue it...I'd rather save £35

Best Ebay was 50% off keeper of secrets that im 90% sure is real. considering the resin feels the same as normal FW stuff.

has no odor and stuff.

Best Craigslist was a laundry list of un opened stuff that included a TON of sisters for under $200.

I greatly encourage people to use Ebay more often to add to their army or to make a new one. It saves you so much money, it gives someone who spent so much on the models some of that money back and it also stops Warhammer Models being left in a shed or loft for a decade, No Chaos Space Marine should ever be out of battle for so long.

Only if you are lucky and or are willing to strip...

Honestly its hit or miss. you can get super lucky with bear plastic or nos.

but if you get that one box of old stuff glued by a 5 year old with parts broken off all over the place. the savings get out weighed by the time wasted fixing it quickly.

my 2 cents of experience.

metal on the other hand go for it and strip in acetone.

Well, I just got my Chinacast Thunderfire Cannon shipped to me just now, opened the box... and i have the Tech Marine, cannon mount and treads with NO CANNON.

Okay, I guess that's fair... shame on me I suppose, except for the fact that I purchased this Thunderfire cannon to make up for the converted one I made.... and now I have to convert up another one instead.

60 Dire Avengers NIB for ~$100. First 40k purchase ever.

Got a few good buys in the markets around Dublin

1st bargain: Box o' Zombies + 2 boxes of Havocs new in box - €12

2nd bargain: 80 model carry case w/ Abbadon, Khárn, Metal Bloodthirster, Metal keeper of secrets, 30 Chaos Marines, 40 Berzerkers, 3 bikes and Doomrider - €20

3rd bargain: Cities of Death box which had one of all the buildings - €10

4th bargain: A Shoebox full of the oddest collection including 2nd ed ghazghkull, some lotr, a few marines, a few of the oop metal daemons some old paints that through some miracle was still usable - €1

I was also about to buy about 2000pts of old 3rd ed eldar, 2 LR crusaders, 3 land speeders and about 20-30 of the ugliest black templars for €40 but bought beer instead. I REGRET NOTHING!

Best deal ever? Probably the 3L box worth of Battlefleet Gothic minis for 60GBP (I'm fairly certain that there was at least 3/400GBP worth of stuff in there given the number of battleships that I got.)

During the assault on blk reach days you could pick up orks for nothing. Got some great buys back then on boys and added to my ork really fast. Picking up deffcoppters and war boss from blk reach for next to nothing. Everyone around here wanted the space marines and pretty much gave the orks away. Black reach was such a great starter box wish it was still around.

I think my best haul has been 10x CSM, Chaos Terminators, and Obliterators (all three NIB and still shrink wrapped) for $79 after shipping.

There was the Term. Lord a while back for just shy of $8.

And whether it's a deal or not, just last week I got myself a metal Lord of Change for $35 with shipping, and that made me happy.

For less than £35 the cost of a predator brand new I've purchased 2 off eBay one which looks like it's got 3 lascannons 1 with a auto cannon and 2 heavy bolters. Also picked up a rhino for like £12.50 will Deffo be using eBay in the future to get more stuff for my Blight Angels csm

I played a TON of Battletech back in the late 90's, early 2000's. Back in the late 90's on eBay I found someone who was selling a TREASURE TROVE of Battletech miniatures. It was basically a very large ziplock bag FULL of models.

None were in the packaging, but there were some REAL gems in that bag, including MOST of the "Unseen" Mechs, which were a big deal. There were SO many models in that batch that I never got around to painting most of them. I still have a lot of them in a shoebox in a closet somewhere. At this rate, my kids will inherit them probably.

I think I paid like $50 or $60 bucks? It was easily like 20-30 models.

On a more 40k related note...

A friend of mine showed me a huge bag of old 1st and 2nd edition Ork models and let me pick through it for whatever I wanted. I didn't want to be a jerk and just say ALL OF IT... but I did relieve him of some great old Ork models. I got a couple old Gorkamorka trucks, a few old metal buggies, some old Ork warbikes, some Stormboys, a few other bits, and probably my PRIZE was getting this guy!

Now I actually have a Lucky Stick model for my Ork army, which I love!

And since we're now digging back into the history books... My favorite ebay pull was finding a $30 BIN (shipping was a fair bit, though) for an old copy of Man o War with lots of extras. The photos were terrible and the game was clearly incomplete and damaged but I saw some rare ones in there (chaos ships n such) and snatched it up.

When it arrived it, it was certainly beat up, but it included almost every single ship made (missing one bretonia ship, and one chaos ship). That was also back when Man o War commanded a fairly high price on ebay (2009-ish?). It was about $800 worth of metal. I was crazy lucky that day... My buddy who also collects Man o War was very jealous!
