He was terrifying! What with that huge sword and those hypnotic blue eyes...
... What? His eyes were really blue!
Seriously though just give me an ap4 salvo 3/5 boltgun to shake at stuff and I'll be happy.

I've a few that I've used.
Captain disposable. Has a boltgun. That's it aside from base stock. His job is to "be the hq" slot and sit back with a quad gun or join another squad and add some dice.
Then "senior fisto" - artificer armor, jump pack and a pair of power fists. - obviously his task is to go punch enemy tanks/dreads/etc. Only had one game - but took out a tooled up chaos lord (with demonblade) then punched a vindicater to pieces, before being shot up by cultists.
Finally "capt' Klaw" pretty much same as fisto but he has lightning claws. - and goes after infantry. In the 1 game he's seen he went after a section of table controlled by 3 units of 20 cultists. Him and his 6 assault marine buddies managed to kill off about 45 of them before bowing out from the sheer number of attacks and saves I was taking.

Making Space Marine character is a bit of a habit of mine, so much so that a year ago I put together an entire 2000 point army of them! Plus some Honour Guard to go with Papa Smurf.
Some day I may get round to actually using it. (also, bear in mind that this was last edition, so it's probably not 2k exactly any more...)
Marneus Calgar
Armour of Antilochus
Honour Guard
2 Relic Blades
Standard of the Emperor Ascendant
Drop Pod
Captain Sicarius
Chief Librarian Tigurius
Captain
Artificer Armour, Relic Blade, The Shield Eternal
Terminator Captain
Thunder hammer, Storm Shield
Captain
Bike, Lightning claw, The Primarch's Wrath
Captain
Jump pack, The Burning Blade
Chaplain
Jump pack, Digital Weapons
Librarian
Mastery 2, Bike
Librarian
Mastery 2, Terminator Armour, Storm Bolter
Librarian
Mastery 2, The Armour Indomintus

Once I get some paint on a few more of my captains, I want to take them out for a game. Just them, unbound, in a very Seven Samurai style list.

Actually that might be fun .... An entire army of only captains kitted out to the nines. Wouldn't have much more then maybe 20 guys on the table and a serious lack of any scary range weapons.... But I'd dare say give them all jump packs or bikes and they could hit pretty hard and fast.

I've done this against a Typhus Zombie list. It's tons of fun.
