I put a nice sharp chisel (while making terrain) through the space between my thumb and forefinger on my left hand - managed to miss everything vital apparently!

I have ended up in hospital after managing to get superglue in my eye - that's not something I can recommend.

I have taken the top off 2 fingers with a saw and electric hand sander on 2 separate occasions

That's the worst of them I think...

I tried toi slice the top of my finger off with an xacto knife. Remember kids, always cut away from yourself!

I was cutting Styrofoam in the garage to make some scenery and had put in a very fresh blade to make the cuts as clean as I could, noticed I had some Styrofoam balls stuck to the front of my shirt and decided to swipe them away, with the hand that held my knife. I ended up cutting a 3 inch long hole in my shirt and chest, have a mean scar to boot, also didn't feel a thing till I felt a breeze where there shouldn't be one.

I was just finishing a painting session and was cleaning up my desk. 4 AM, way too late, I had to get up at 8.

I had a beer in a long Hefeweizen glass during painting. The empty glass was still on my desk.

I accidentally tipped it over and reached for it so it wouldn't fall off my desk. Just when I grabbed it the glass hit the rim of the desk and broke into several pieces and I grabbed right into it. Blood and splinters on the floor.

Had several broken glass pieces stuck in my hand and all I could think was: "gak, this is going to take some time now, I will be so tired at work tomorrow'.

What I actually said was: "FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCK!!!!".

When I was in high school I used to build and fly model rockets. I was working on fixing one that had crashed and broken the stabilizing fins off. I was scraping glue off the rocket body using a hobby knife with a curved blade with the cutting edge on the inside. Of course, the blade caught on a glue spot and the tube shot out of my hand like....well, a rocket. The knife flipped around in my hand and sunk into my left index finger on the thumb side, halfway between the first and second knuckle. It cut through everything - the only thing that stopped it was the bone. We had to put ice on it to stop the bleeding and I nearly passed out from blood loss. I have a scar to this day, and I still cannot bend that finger very much due to the nerve being cut. I also still have the habit of holding that finger out straight and using my left middle finger instead.

In college, I dropped a soldering iron on my leg once while wearing shorts. Taking a hot iron to the inside of your thigh is not a good feeling. Never work on your electronics lab at 3 in the morning.

Other than the numerous cuts, nicks and pokes, the worst I've had is a piece of metal swarf go right through my thumbail. That nail now persistently weakens and starts to split where the swarf went through.

The worst is small exacto cuts. I appear to be very lucky!

Wanted to make a tiny hole with the tip of my scalpel in a bolter barrel, slipped and buried the blade next to a fingernail.

I've only put very fine cuts across my fingertips when I'd wipe my blade clean down the flat with said fingertip. I've never glued myself to anything, impaled myself on a blade or sharp mini, or burned myself on a soldering iron (I don't even have a soldering iron).

When I first got into the hobby I had glued some giant purity seal looking thing onto a dreadnought. I later decided that I didn't like it, so I attempted to pry it off using an x-acto knife, lol. I held the dreadnought chasis in one hand and was literally jamming the knife between the seal and the model, going directly toward towards my stomach and the hand holding the model.

I remember ignorantly thinking "well if I push slow and hard enough I'll be able to stop before stabbing my gut."

I was definitely able to stop it from stabbing my gut, but that's only because the blade found it's way into my thumb instead.

I didn't even think of that. I somehow placed my hand down on top of a Cities of Death building, and the spike on top of the tower put a nice hole in my hand. Didn't notice it at all, until I saw the blood on my shirt.

Here's a minor one from this morning.
Rebasing some models from square to round and while cutting I slipped.
I managed to drag the corner of a 40mm square base through the side of my finger lol.

Hmmm...

My injury greatest hobby hits:

1) Tiny shim-like table-saw blades on dremel tools should only be used with the part in a vice: cut 1/4 way into thumb holding part when it grabbed (like nothing was there). Hospital and stitches.
2) Blob of crazy-glue got onto my cotton shirt on the chest, thought nothing of it: then got a burn! Turns out it is a nasty chemical reaction. Was like trying to remove napalm. Still got a scar.
3) Put new blade into hobby knife, carefully held it away from me to go sit at bench, somehow turned perfectly to stab it to the hilt into my thigh. Hospital and stitches.
4) A single brass rod for a tank antenna not filed down or capped is bad... not paying attention, go to place hand on it a wee bit fast... rod poked out other side of hand. Exciting!
5) Had a HECK of a time where two metal parts just did not want to crazy glue together. Was so busy concentrating holding the bits together did not notice 3 fingers well coated in crazy glue. Bond decided to work VERY well after that. Removed skin on tip of finger onto part, 3 fingers needed a couple hours of prying under hot water to release.
6) Was using a pin-vice to drill on a bit of a slope, had it slip, went 2/3rds of the way up my middle finger fingernail. Hurt more than all the other wounds.

There, not too brutal but silly all the same.

I am amazed you are still in the hobby...

The other day I sliced into my left middle finger whilst cutting a model. Went to the gym the next day and my wound reopened on the treadmill and covered it in blood.

Same day. I managed to glue my tounge. Because I tired to close the cap of my glue with my mouth and missed.

Well this was a kind of modelling injury.
Albeit a remodelling demolition injury.
I had taped up a laminated glass window in order to break it.
Long story short.
I used a Crowbar. Drove it and hand through tape with glass shards. Severed tendon in middle finger.
This was at ten in the morning.
An alco wipe two bandaids a McDicks napkin and some duct tape later. Back to work.
Till nine in the evening.
Next day surgery, took day off.
Tyen back to work..
Still working on getting a usable left paw.. :p

I think the worse was getting super glue on my eye from cutting the super glue bottle top off. Then having to peel it off my iris, no permanent damage, ironically I think I could see better after it happened and of course it was Halloween night no less.

Most modeling injuries I suffer are from knives or sticking myself with bits on accident.
