Thanks for the exalt Wyldhunt!
I agree about Maelstrom being better with house rule or two. We play ours with the only caveat being you are allowed to immediately throw away any objective for free that is impossible to accomplish (such as taking out a flyer or psyker when there are none or manifesting a psychic power when you have no psykers) and re-roll a new objective. With that small change it makes the maelstrom matches far less reliant on luck to just always "get good objectives".
The quality of models over the past two years have been of phenomenal quality. I find myself now excited to buy kits for armies I don't even own just so I can build and paint them. I always liked Fire warriors but those new breachers look amazing to me and I may have to do up a squad for fun even though I don't plan to play Tau. I have models from other companies and while I do like them I just feel I prefer GW plastic more all the time. Only annoyance is the limited amount of special weapons in a box (usually one of each) which does kinda force you to buy multiple boxes to play WYSIWYG if you have duplicate specials in a unit but overall that is a minor annoyance for me since I don't mind running mixed specials units every once in a while.

I agree with the houserules and maelstrom lovers here.
I have always houseruled games I play when something comes up that seems off to me. Our maelstrom missions let you only discard things that were impossible at the start of the game. We adhere to the idea that the mission on the table is part of a much larger battle all around them. When high command tells you "we need more psychic support!" You may have to tell them that they'll have to get it elsewhere because runepriest brittletooth was just crushed by a deffdredd.

So if I understand this right you play something like this for example: My army has a chaos sorcerer in it at deployment as part of my army list. During turn two of the match my sorcerer was slain by an ork deffdread. On turn 4 I draw the maelstrom card to manifest a psychic power, I can no longer do that since my sorcerer is dead and so it is an unattainable objective. However though since my army included a sorcerer at the beginning of the game I would have had the ability to attain that objective if he hadn't been killed, thus I cannot simply throw that obj away and draw a new one.
Did I get that right? Overall I must say that I like that system, there is a punishment in losing key units that you were supplied with at battles beginning but completely unattainable objectives are still discarded and re-rolled correct? What about if I kill an enemy flyer on turn three but on turn four draw the card to kill an enemy flyer. Since I already destroyed the flyer technically it has been "achieved" but now I can't score it cause my opponent has no flyers anymore. How do you guys rule that objective?
OT: Artwork. The artwork in some of the latest codexes has been of superb quality. I know I'll be keeping many of my newer codexes even after they are out-dated just so I can have them as art books. GW definitely didn't skip out on finding very talented artists.

It definitely fixed a few problems with 6th, but I wouldn't say it fixed all of them by a longshot.

It isnt fixed, balanced to a degree or setting a new paradigm for rulesets.
But, its still fun if you want to throw big robots against weird extragalactic lizards.

I love allies. It can be abused (*cough*thunderwolfDALibConclave*cough*), but it just opens for so many fluffy, thematic and awesome possibilities.
I'm also very fond of the variety in armies available. Harlequins, Mechanicus, Renegades & Heretics? Yes!!
Clearing up the Barrage rules was also a big, big step up from 6th edition.

Then you don't get that objective either. It makes you think about whether or not to kill the flyer at the first opportunity. If you are behind on points, but have multiple ways to kill the flyer, you may just absorb the damage it does in order to take the points for it later. Again, high command has an issue with flyers buzzing around in the fight and asked you to take them down. You already cleared your airspace, so the order means nothing to you at this time.

I love the new psychic phase, although I hate how long it is for some armies like Chaos Demons Could do with some streamlining maybe to speed it up?
Only issue with it is the glaring issue with the state of the game in my personal opinion. I personally like "pure" armies, aka all guard, all wolves etc. As the game currently is it's mostly un-viable, especially if I want to give my guard psychic support, I'm pretty much forced to take allies in that regard.
