With that out of the way, would 150 points be a reasonable amount for a starting player?

H.B.M.C.- The end hath come! From now on armies will only consist of Astorath, Land Speeder Storms and Soul Grinders!
War Kitten- Vanden, you just taunted the Dank Lord Ezra. Prepare for seven years of fighting reality...
koooaei- Emperor: I envy your nipplehorns. <Magnus goes red. Permanently>
Neronoxx- If our Dreadnought doesn't have sick scuplted abs, we riot.
Frazzled- I don't generally call anyone by a term other than "sir" "maam" "youn g lady" "young man" or " HEY bag!"
Ruin- It's official, we've ran out of things to talk about on Dakka. Close the site. We're done.

Steve steveson- To be clear, I'd sell you all out for a bottle of scotch and a mid priced hooker.

150-200 points is probably where most people start because you can build a little more than 150 point list from most of the starter sets.

I honestly recommend the ITS slow grow scenarios if you're starting with a regular group of people. Sizes escalate in 50pt brackets, and advanced rules are slowly introduced.

150pts is definitely a good starting point for a new player.

It used to be a starter + a blister, 5-7 models or so.

The escalation league in the ITS2015 document is designed - like Loki said - for this. Game levels go up in 50pt increments. The first few don't use Retreat rules at all, hacking is restricted, and they are mostly "kill em all" scenarios designed to teach you the basics of movement and combat.

I'm OVER 50 (and so far over everyone's BS, too).
Old enough to know better, young enough to not give a ****.

That is not dead which can eternal lie ...

... and yet, with strange aeons, even death may die.

Ok, I did some stuff and I bumped my planned list up to 250 points so I could get more bang for my buck. Should I post that here or in the other forum?

Well, if you're discussing a list and asking about how you can improve or change it, it should probably go in the List forum.

If you just want to know capabilities of models from a new player standpoint, that might be fine here.

So i wont put the list but I can put the models

Teutonic knights (I think this is the good CC unit because he has berserk which gives him CC 27 I think)

Order Sergeants

Father Knight

Magister knight (i think this is the other CC guy)
