This will be a space to document my creation, painting, and modeling, of Hive Fleet Gigas.

I intend to update this first post as a showcase of finished models, with WIP pictures, thoughts, and discussion, posted in the thread. I also intend to keep a log of progress and models to be finished. Feedback, thoughts, and discussion is appreciated. Looking forward to posting completed army pictures in the future!

Enjoy!

Nicely done mate, the scheme is really striking, and yet still looks natural, I like it.

More of the new bugs on the way? I think the zoanthropes would look awesome in this scheme.

Thanks for the compliments. I picked up a new Tyrannocyte, but haven't yet committed to a new box of Zoanthropes / Venomthropes. I want to wait to see what the boxed set (if there is one for Shield of Baal) might look like before I allocate spending money.

Well done, I like them a lot. The scheme has a very natural feel to it.

Next on the agenda: ten Termagants of a much larger brood. I want to finish up these guys, as they are in various stages of basecoating. Then move on to the rest of the 20 in the brood.

Also, I got something new in the mail today!

I'm probably going to wait to assemble this guy. I'm gonna have to order some more magnets to magnetize a set of guns so I can switch out it's armament.

Assembling the Tyrannocyte. Gonna leave it semi-assembled in order to spray and get a basecoat on the hard to reach places under the armor plates. Also need to magnetize the guns. Gonna greenstuff along those cracks between pieces.

Have finished six Termagants but got distracted by my Malanthrope. Here are some WIP shots. A few touchups left to do and then the carapace and hes good to go.

I hate painting black on resin. It just looks awful and thick compared to painting on plastic. It also doesn't help that the cast wasn't very smooth along the carapace.

It looks really amazing. I really love the colour scheme. The Malanthrope looks really menacing.

^ FW bugs tend to have really detailed carapaces that love washes. I dont know of any of them that are smooth like the plastics, even the new Dima retains its detail. It's a good thing, just not for black

Finished my Malanthrope. I absolutely love this guy. Forgeworld really did a good job on this model.

Almost done with this never ending brood of Ten. Gotta take one Gant at a time. Twenty more for this brood to go to field with the Tervigon.

From the front, they kind of look like some dangerous snake.

I'm eager to start the Tyrannocyte. It's been raining though (this is good because California is in a drought) which means I haven't been able to spray prime the thing yet. Maybe sometime this week once the humidity drops.

Nice scheme on the skin and carapace that comes together and has an awesome overall effect.

I like how you are doing your carapace... looks really good!

Looks really good in a group. I like how the carapace/chitin looks on the head of your gribblies, very eye catching.

Good to get the ten termagants out of the way... only how many more to paint?

Nice work

Far too many Gants / Gaunts to paint! I want to get done with the big thirty-gant brood to field with my Tervigon. But then I have many to paint for Tervigon-spawns.

I have 20 Gargoyles to paint that I field in pretty much every game. They are a top priority to get painted and on the table.

My Deathstorm box came today (finally!). Some new Tyranids to add to the Hive.

Also been working on some Gargoyles.

Very little hobby progress this Holiday. Bought lots of stuff though, so I guess that counts. Put together my Deathstorm Carnifex, bought a second one on ebay for cheap, primed them both.

WIP of my Tyrannocyte. The weapons are magnetized.

Here are some progress shots of what i've been working on lately. Still working on my big Termagant brood - here are a few more of them i'm getting done. A second Flying Tyrant and my two Mawlocs. I've also been working on the Deathstorm Broodlord. Trying to wrap up my Tyrannocyte as well.

Great colors! The pinkish details add enough warmth and interest to keep the black and white scheme exciting. Also really like the blending so far on your Tyrannocyte,

That deathstorm broodlord is big. Didn't realise quite how big it was until I saw your photo... that is way bigger than the normal broodlord.

Might have to go hunt one down

Nice progress, you have plenty on the go!

The Deathstorm Broodlord is an absolutely stunning model. I definitely recommend picking one up. That model alone makes me want to run my Genestealers. In fact, I stripped all of my old genestealers and will be repainting them. I'll be using them for some City Fight games and for the asteroid board i'm building as they can infiltrate and claim the central asteroid Fortress.

You can find more WIP pics of the asteroid board here.

Damn you for making me throw even more money at GW. Seriously though, love the painting, they're really nice to look at which I find is quite difficult to pull off with 'nids. Well done.
