Inspired by the amazing space station board in the 6th Ed. rulebook I've been putting together my own set of deep space asteroid space station terrain pieces.

Here are some WIP shots of the main fortress. I'm kind of letting it grow organically so I don't know exactly yet whether this will have additional structures connecting adajecent asteroids or not. I'll post some more pictures later tonight of some of the other pieces. This piece is pretty huge and will sit in the center of the table. I'm going to play the central piece as a building for infantry to hide in from Flyers zooming around the board.

It looks almost crystalline, which I think is good look for it. Is that your intention?

Yeah, I liked the look of the more spiky sharp-edged rock formations. There is no erosion in space after all (i'm making this up).

I honestly don't have the space to store it either. Luckily its going to be more modular rather than one big piece in the original GW space station board.

Really liking the concept. Are the triangle bits on the pad resin or plaster?

Those pieces are plaster. They cast fine, but man plaster is annoying to work with. Only pva glue works on it.

How cool does that look?

Any suggestions on how I should paint the fortress facings and landing pad?

Hm... it needs more color, something to make it pop out from the rock. Not sure what, though. Maybe some weathered looking gold and blue?

I've been itching to try out the Nihalahk Oxide so maybe bronze/goldish would work.

Bronze worked up to gold sounds interesting.

Some pics from a test game tonight. Blood Angels vs. Tau. Commander Farsight prevailed.

Could add some coloured navigation lights.

Very sorry! Haven't gotten around to it yet. Played a test game with them but then put them down again. I basecoated a bit of the underside of of the big asteroid but haven't done much else. I have a bit of hobby ADHD and was working on my Tyranids this weekend instead.

Lol ... Our hobby can be like that jumping from one thing to another.

Currently got about a dozen different projects at different stages of "will get them done at some point" myself.
