Would making vet sergeants 2W also apply to Sternguard and Vanguard since both of those squads are just made up of veterans? What about terminators?

I'm certainly not against the idea, but it could change more than just the sgt in tactical squads.

I don’t think it would be too much for the sarges of those squads to get a free wound.

For the PA vets, going to two wounds each for the squad members would probably necessitate a point bump. TDA vets might might them viable at the points they cost now.

IMHO, etc.

In my Blood Angels army I have one veteran sergeant who runs with my grav bike squad.

I figured one lot of grav shots wasn't great so went with the vet. serg. instead and gave him a lightning claw, the claw is no loss cause he cant have a pistol. So now he has 3 S5 I5 AP3 attacks with shred on the charge. figured it was a better investment than 3 one use grav shots.

I thought about it, but then just got the tac sergeants combiplasma instead.

good for you. any discussion as to why? Or maybe why you think you have to take one 'instead' of the other?

There was a time when a veteran sergeant wasn't just viewed through the meta lens of points-efficiency or cost-effectiveness. It used to be a cool opportunity to add a bit of character to a tac squad.

I don't know when that was. I've always hated them.
