Best melee character: Probably Kharn the Betrayer.
Best shooting character: Cypher is great and probably the best, although Pask in a LR Punisher is no slouch either.
Best supporting character: Be'lakor, Tigurius, and Loth spring to mind, but Azrael (don't laugh) is not bad himself. He gives his whole unit a 4++, which can be hilarious in a large Guardsman blob. If we allowed non-unique characters, I might also nominate the Tau Buffmander.

best melee, probably Kharn, though he does like to smack his allies.
best shooting? Vindicaire or Karamazov
best support? why am I only the second to mention the buffmander. especially with the abomination that is the Hunter Cadre's Coordinated Firepower.
