Melee character: I think Abbadon handily wins this one. There's been a previous thread about this about which the best 1 v 1 SC is for melee and Abbadon tops it. Smashfether is his only real competition but given that he's not unique he doesn't count. Jain Zar is a strong contender for 1 v 1 duels, though Abbadon wins out for melee in general. Shooting character: Probably Cypher. Loads of high BS shots and with infiltrate he can get in range as well. Being able to wound on 2's with AP2 and weight of fire allow him to beat the more sniper centric characters like Illic Nightspear. Support character: Easily either Tigurius given his psychic abilities or Draigo for him being able to tank attacks with his storm shield and insta-access to Gate of Infinity. Probably Tigurius though given his ability to hand out more buffs and reliability.

Best melee: Anggrath. We all know why
Best in shooting: The earth caste riptide from the Farsight enclaves. Whats not to love about an IC Riptide
Best support: Belakor, Tigurius or Loth

He may not be the "best" support character, but the Ministorum Priest is absurdly good for what you pay for his points, especially if you do stuff like put him in a unit with a Prescience Pysker for 4++ rerollable or abuse allies to do things like 3++ rerollable with Crusaders or anything else with storm shields.

Best for support is EASILY Nemesor. Switching Warlord traits on the fly and being insanely durable (2+/4++/4+++) makes for a great character for the price. There's tons of great Psykers, but that requires further investment into getting Warp Charges. Nemesor needs no such thing.
Shooting is a bit tough. Maugan, Lias, and Cypher are pretty good contenders for that spot.
Melee I won't entirely delve into, but I'd wager Draigo. A S9 AP2 Force Weapon isn't exactly fair against most targets,

Uriah Jacobus is certainly top tier though (this is only for named characters I believe).
For 90 points, a 4++, War Hymns, giving his whole squad a 5++, War Hymns, Fearless, War Hymns, Hatred, and did I forget? War Hymns. At Ld10.
Oh, and he's a hobo with a S4AP4 shotgun for lulz.

Best melee: Horus, followed by Lorgar Transfigured, followed by Fulgrim
Best shooting: Mechanicum ArchMagos Prime with Ordinator or Myrmidax upgrades
Best support: Lorgar Transfigured, with Belakor, Tigurius, and Loth running close second
Of course, when you spend 250+ points for a character, they better be good at what they do.

Not sure if you know what Horus does.
HE LOWERS YOUR WEAPON SKILL FOR EACH HIT HE GETS. After 2 rounds, chances are you'll be at WS0 and cant do anything! If Horus wins mathematically against EVERY Primarch what hope in hell does Abaddon have?

Seeing as Horus costs 240 points more than Abaddon, it will not even be a contest. I do remember someone ran a mathhammer where Abby had every single boon on the Champion of Chaos Table. I think it was pretty close then.

Abaddon beats Horus, if he gets all of the Chaos boons. The odds for that to happen is fairly low. (As in, completely impossible.) Without them, Horus dispatches Abaddon quite handily. Of course, to make the former fight fair, we should wait for Horus to also get his Chaos-amped form rules, and they will no doubt be pretty murdertastic. Either way, my pick is Melee: Horus Shooting: O'vesa Support: Lorgar Transfigured

Best shooting character - Probably Aetos'Rau'Keres. Have you seen what the Staff Of Cataclsym does?
Best melee character - Anngrath The Unbound has to be pretty close.
Best support character - Inquisitors and Priests are good, but the best unique support character? Mad Dok Grotsnik has to be pretty good - conferring fearless, feel no pain and rampage onto a unit. Be'Lakor is pretty harsh too, if only because of garuanteed access to telepathy powers of your choice.
