So the verdict is in: next up is the stealth suits! Got them based and the Shas'vre magnetized. I know 99% of the time I'll want to fusion blaster but...got dammit the burst cannon looks so much cooler. Can't wait to get the colour started

I think I'm going to do the same paint scheme as my ghostkeel. I've toyed with the idea of using an 'active camo' effect but if it doesn't turn out...then oh well!

So here is my first attempt at a 'decloaking' effect. I'm reasonably happy with how it's turning out. The bottom will match the colour of their base when I get them. As always C&C is appreciated ^^

I think the stealth effect need a bit of a change. If they are all at the same stage of (de-)cloaking then it looks a bit like it could be a colour scheme (yellow with black boots). If the effect is spread out a bit (one with the dividing line at the legs, another higher up, and you could even try a less horizontal and more asymmetric division) then it would probably look less like their uniform and more natural.

Yeah I tried to have it a little lower on the Shas'vre, but he's at the back so it's hard to see. I'm not too concerned about the boots, as when I get some bases I ordered they will be painted/textured the match the base to make it more obvious a stealth effect rather than a colour scheme I will try and move the transition line a little higher on one of them though! Thanks for the advice ^^

Finally back to painting. Had some long work weeks, some dental trouble and a sick girlfriend, but now I can finally update my little corner of this site again Finally got my resin bases in the mail. The one for the Ghostkeel seems to be fine, but I realized that in my research on the size of stealth suit bases I ordered 25mm, not realizing they have been changed to 32mm :( The yellow armour on the stealth suits is more or less finished, aside from maybe a touch up here and there. The base still needs some work but it will be the final piece for my Ghostkeel and hopefully I can get the final model photo up before the weekend As always C&C is appreciated ^^

Thanks for the comment!

Now just to work on thinning my paints T_T

Well I got the base complete and glued on so I think I can finally call the Gohstkeel complete. I'm reasonably happy with how it turned out but here are things I'd like to work on to improve: I want my yellow highlights to pop a little more and I need to work on using thinner/more consistent coverage with my layers.

C&C is always appreciated ^^

Ghostkeel is looking sweet. base is perfect for it'. Think the yellows pop great as it is but aye, as you say, could do with thinning the paints a bit more for your layers

Thanks for the comments!

Januine: Any tips? I'm currently using a wet pallette and I try to include some thinning medium but I still end up with detail that gets a little plugged. I think I perhaps just need to be more patient when I'm loading my brush :/

Wet pallete is a must. I usually just thin down with water, I will use some lahmian medium as well sometimes. Just thin down the paint to about the consistency of hot chocolate is the way I usualy go. Lots of thin thin layers always gives a nice finish than 1 or 2 thick ones. Takes longer to get covered but so worth it

My stealth suits have finally sprouted arms, and I'm fairly pleased with how they're coming together. I still need to add some sept markings on to them, and shoulder pads. The shas'vres weapons are unpainted as they were magnitizied and I forgot to paint them with the rest of it :( But I'll hit them up with some colour when I do the shoulder pads. I just got the correctly sized resin bases so I'll paint them and then do the camo parts to match. Can't wait to get thee guys finished up and moved onto the meganobz ^^

Stealth suits are making good progress.

Where did you put the magnets for the weapons?

Thanks! I magnetized the fuson gun essentially at the same point that it would have glued on; so on the hand it is at the base of where the 'fist' would be and on the gun it is at the base of the L-shaped joining piece.

They're getting there slowly. Painted the 'camo' bits to match the stone on the base. I think it has a decent effect and will probably keep it. Hopefully have these done by the end of the weekend ^^

Nice!! Matching the camo'd parts to the base makes a big and more effective difference. Looking pretty sweet

Till the end of the year, it's not really final on when my unit will go back to the states.

Well Korea has been more distracting than expected (in a good way!) and so coming up on a year late my stealth squad is finally complete.
