Grey knights... the only terminators that are worth it

That was kinda what I was thinking too. Instead of deathwing I'd bring a couple of Grey Knight terminators, a GK libby, and a Dread Knight.

Do you think that would be much more viable?

Always depends on your meta, but yes, GK is the way to go if you want to run Terminators. Either with an allied Librarian and/or with a contingent of GK Terminators.

ML3 Librarian with Liber gives four rolls on Santic (possible five via GK warlord traits). Key powers for Terminators are Sanctuary (+1 to invul saves). Hammerhand (+2S, built-in for GK Terminators) and Gate (Teleport / Deep Strike)

So for example you could have a block of 10 DW TH/SS Terminators with a GK Librarian attached. Turbo your bikes with homers up the field turn one, and gate your block of 10 Terminators up to them. Also potentially then gives them 2++ and S10 Hammers.

GK also offer Dreadknights to take pressure of your Terminators which can shunt turn 1 to support Gated terminators.

I usually play GK at 1500 with Lib, 10x Terminators, 2x Dreadknights and Interceptors (who take on the bike role). At 1850 add an Imperial Knight. It's got it's limitations, but is probably the best Terminators can do at the moment and is fun to play.

The only good Terminators are GK ones.

Cheap, ML1, awesome weapon options, and can run and shoot the turn they deep strike.

Overall, I think Terminators in general need a massive overhaul, as has been said, 2+/5++ T4 Bulky infantry are just out-dated relics now.

Biomancy is an interesting solution. Feast or famine but really can be good.

In competetive environments I leave my Deathwing Termies at home.
In semi-comp or casual play, I've had them do good. They work well in conjuration with Ravenwing due to everything having homer beacons. Belial is good too with no scatter and a homing beacon to bring others in. The Knights are good but I've had the best luck with a Deathwing Command Squad. With an Apothecary for the FNP, Banner for + 1 attack, Deathwing champ for that AP2 at initiative, Sgt. for that AP3 at initiative. Then I throw in Belial and a Librarian for some Interromancy shenanigans. Not the most competitive, but I've caught people off guard quite a bit. Belial guarantees a safe deepstrike, so I can drop them somewhere safe so they don't die before the assault.

CSM termicide with 3 combi meltas. DS in and pop all 3 meltas. Get shot to death to distract enemy from other threats running in. If they miraculously survive, I move them and shot and charge to trip overwatch while the main assault models crash in.

Can somebody explain to me why Termies can't ride in a droppod? The only explanation I get is that "they can't" from people who played older editions. According to the 7th edition rulebook I'm not seeing any restrictions for Termies not able to ride in a droppod. I need an actual rulebook page disallowing termies to ride in droppods.

I know in the rulebook under Transports it says: (pg80) "Sometimes, there will be constraints on which types of models can embark on a particular vehicle, and this will be specified in the units entry (nothing like that on BA Termy or droppod datasheets.) Space Marine Terminators, for example, cannot embark upon a Rhino or Razorback, although they can be transported by a Landraider."

Termy Armor gives the Bulky which only makes them count as 2 models for transport purposes.
The droppod rules just say Transport Capacity:10 models or 1 dreadnought of any type.

Where is this rule that denies Termies from riding in a Fast Attack droppod?

They're not denied, but it's a stupid idea. Like, beyond stupid.

You could get 3 Locator Beacons and a Teleport Homer without sacrificing a Fast Attack slot.

Pretty sure Space Wolf Termies use to Pod, back when they couldn't Deep Strike on their own. You could only fit 5 to a Pod, though.

Terminators CAN take a Drop Pod into battle, but people just don't because they don't bother with Terminators.

I use my TDAWGs a lot, they are a solid choice but made so only because of their good rules, flexible equipment and lower starting numbers. Really I just take them as company for Arjac, 2 with some type of Combiweapon, and TH/SS on the champion.

Drop pod is the way to go with these guys, just stick them in there and watch them go.

I ally mine with IG quite often, a Ministorum Priest in the squad is fantastic.

No point paying to pod what can deepstrike anyway, and doesn't quite want to be deep struck anyway (being mostly assault oriented)

can neither confirm nor deny I lost track of what I've got right now.

If you're Deep Striking Terminators you might as well spend 35 points to almost entirely remove the risk and get to come in turn 1.

For thirteen years I had a dog with fur the darkest black. For thirteen years he was my friend, oh how I want him back.

That still takes up a Fast Attack slot, and Terminators don't have the firepower or stats to make for Alpha Strikers.

Now, I looked on Battlescribe (I know, not official rules), but it states that it is HIS squad that arrives with a precise Deep Strike. If you combine that with the Nemesis Strike Force, you could land a Paladin squad right in the middle of WHEREVER you want starting T1. Obviously give him a TH/SS. Sure he'll have less success against a Wraithknight but that survivability goes a long way.

Is that legal? Belial isnt a GK nor is he part of the Nemesis Strike Force. I 'think' it specifically states something about being Grey Knights

It's legal. The rules work separately, but the rules for Combined Reserved Units supercede the restrictions by forcing a single roll to arrive for the entire combined unit. of which Rites of Teleportation covers. At that point, Beliel's ability kicks in for no scatter.

It still wouldn't be competitive but it is something at least for both Paladins AND Belial...

Frankly, GK use to have a special character that did the same thing, Grand Master Mordrak, who we lost due to GW having never made a specific model for him (despite everyone just building him from the plastic GKT kit). I have upon occasion used my Mordrak and his Ghostly Bodyguard as an allied Beliel and a squad of Deathwing Termies, for nostalgias sake.
