Dug this new episode - 5 - seems like the first four were really establishing things and now we are getting to the actual events of the story.

Probably going to read the books at some point, but since I tend to buy everything on sale haven't gotten around to it yet.

Falling Skies was good until the final episode, which soured the entire series

What happened in the last episode? Was it worse than nBSG's finale?

Spoiler:
We meet the alien queen and find out the invasion happened because she sent her daughter to invade us some thousands of years ago and humans killed her so she's here for revenge. Then the main dude kills her in single combat with a special bio weapon, and her death causes every other alien on the planet to spontaneously explode.

As for Expanse #5, was the "Butcher" the same guy sending the transmission to the little ship? Was that a flashback? I wasn't sure if that was the same guy or not.

Yes...
Spoiler:
He's a big deal in the OPA, I suspect we're either getting his "Hans....are we the baddies?" moment or it's meant to emphasise that he's a ruthless bugger no matter what politics he's espousing.

I need to acquire plastic Skavenslaves, can you help?
I have a blog now, evidently. Featuring the Alternative Mordheim Model Megalist.

"Your society's broken, so who should we blame? Should we blame the rich, powerful people who caused it? No, lets blame the people with no power and no money and those immigrants who don't even have the vote. Yea, it must be their fething fault." - Iain M Banks

"The language of modern British politics is meant to sound benign. But words do not mean what they seem to mean. 'Reform' actually means 'cut' or 'end'. 'Flexibility' really means 'exploit'. 'Prudence' really means 'don't invest'. And 'efficient'? That means whatever you want it to mean, usually 'cut'. All really mean 'keep wages low for the masses, taxes low for the rich, profits high for the corporations, and accept the decline in public services and amenities this will cause'." - Robin McAlpine from Common Weal

Watched the first episode last night. Thought it was really good. Production values and really good as well. It did make me wonder though if there is any hope for a Traveller based show?

Live your life that the fear of death can never enter your heart. Trouble no one about his religion. Respect others in their views and demand that they respect yours. Love your life, perfect your life. Beautify all things in your life. Seek to make your life long and of service to your people. When your time comes to die, be not like those whose hearts are filled with fear of death, so that when their time comes they weep and pray for a little more time to live their lives over again in a different way. Sing your death song, and die like a hero going home.

Well, THAT show was Firefly and since it was cancelled, I'd say "nope".

(Joss Whedon DID play in a particular space rpg when he was at college - and given WHEN that was, the only rpg he would have been exposed to for that genre was traveller.)

I'm OVER 50 (and so far over everyone's BS, too).
Old enough to know better, young enough to not give a ****.

That is not dead which can eternal lie ...

... and yet, with strange aeons, even death may die.
