I have to purchase everything except for a very limited supply of Vallejo paint online. I have 2 hobby/comic shops that are within driving distance of me but they carry nothing model or GW related and have to order everything for me so its easier and cheaper for me to just order from somewhere like thewarstore.com because at least ordering from them I get 20% off and dont pay GW store prices. The local Hobby Lobby carries a very limited range of Vallejo Model paints and some Okay type brushes but again, they dont have the good stuff. Model Cars they have plenty of though. Planes and tanks not so much.

I buy most of my stuff at an 3rd party online store, the exclusive models at GW webstore and rarely but if I urgently need some hobby materials like paint or glue I'll go to the closest store.

I am incredibly fortunate that Element Games has their bricks'n'mortar store nearby and I play in the attached gaming centre. This means I have continuous access to a huge range of discounted stuff which is comprehensive and covers not only GW but Vallejo, secret weapon, army painter and a huge host of hobby supplies, minis, rpgs, board games, etc, etc.

I also sometimes use eBay for some things but only if they are really cheap and preferably not painted or assembled.

I'd say 90% of my purchases go through Element nowadays.

It depends. I sometimes buy stuff my local gw as its the only place around. Other times I buy stuff from Warstore/ebay. I currently have a lot of stuff to build paint but i wanna finish out my space marine stuff, I need some vehicles like drop pods, fliers, and a few more kits like stern guard and some grey knights that I want for my homebrew chapter. Im hoping those Ad Mech rumors pan out cause i want some of that.

I want a corsair army but that'll be a long time unless I wanna go through recasters for it.

Should have added that I only use GW now for three reasons:

1. I like the local manager and enjoy visiting his store, so if I go in I generally buy something, but it makes me wince every time I pay for anything I know I can get 15-20% cheaper elsewhere.

2. For web exclusives, so things like vypers and Dark Eldar court of the archon minis, etc.

3. For Forgeworld. If I want some of their stuff I will make a specific trip to Nottingham and go to Warhammer World. It is cheaper than their postage, you get to visit WHW and if they don't have the FW you want they post it out free anyway.

I buy the vast majority of my 40k stuff at my FLGS, if for no other reason than I believe in supporting local stores. I have ordered stuff direct from GW before (online, no GW store near me), and I've gotten some decent deals on eBay as well.

My armies (re-counted and updated on 11/7/24, including modeled wargear options):
Dark Angels: ~16000 Astra Militarum: ~1200 | Imperial Knights: ~2300 | Leagues of Votann: ~1300 | Tyranids: ~3400 | Stormcast Eternals: ~5000 | Kruleboyz: ~3500 | Lumineth Realm-Lords: ~700

I am very lucky and probably have about 4 FLGS within a short drive of me and a GW across the Bridge in Philadelphia.

Even though I'm new to this and don't play at all (yet), I'm glad to spend a few extra dollars here and there to support the local economy. I've also found the owners, employees and patrons of these stores to be super nice and very eager to help a new guy learn about models, paints and painting, so that to me is worth any extra money I save by not buying anything online. I'm sure by spending time and money in these stores, if/when the time comes to start/learn to actually play the table top game, I won't be just some dude walking in to learn to play, but they'll already know me.

I am starting to look on E-Bay for Bits, though, as no one around here sells any. I will start looking a little harder though, lol.

My modeling supplies I buy almost exclusively in-store at the local shop, michaels, and when necessary - GW.

My models, I don't really have a go-to method. Recently I moved to a new area and found a shop with some 6th ed models that have been collecting dust - so they were practically giving them away. Suffice to say, I've stockpiled on their 20-30% discounts. Other times I'll want something specific and search amazon, ebay, and if it's not cheaper (by at least 20% in order to account for shipping and waiting) then I'll just buy it from GW. I did buy a lot of SM's from eBay once years ago, but was pretty unsatisfied with it as most were damaged by glue or primed so poorly that they were essentially useless to me.

My FLGS and the internet. Typically if they have it in stock I buy it at my FLGS. I get it quicker and it help supports the store. Even if I have to pay more than MSRP due to sales tax.

Thought for the day: Hope is the first step on the road to disappointment.

I buy everything from Games Workshop/Forgeworld. Money isn't really an issue for me and the store is only 10 minutes away from me and I really like to buy from there. Occasionally I will get something from eBay if it's OOP.

Oh, I certainly vote with my dollar, but the problem is that that is not enough. The problem with the 'vote with your dollar' response is that it doesn't take into account why we're not buying the product. I want to enjoy 40k enough to buy back in. It was my introduction to traditional games, and there was a time when I enjoyed it very much. I want to buy 40k, but Gamesworkshop is doing their very best to push me away, and simply not buying their product won't tell them that.

Stuff they don't (or can't) get I order.

This for me, too. I have an excellent FLGS, now. I buy from him unless it's OOP or DO like Forgeworld. He doesn't carry Reaper Paints, so I buy them from reaper and/or the Warstore. OOP I usually get from eBay.

I buy my models mostly from FW or on ebay. My hobby supplies I get from my local store.

If you dont short hand your list, Im not reading it.
Example: Assault Intercessors- x5 -Thunder hammer and plasma pistol on sgt.
or Assault Terminators 3xTH/SS, 2xLCs
For the love of God, GW, get rid of reroll mechanics. ALL OF THEM!

Hahaha. I get everything half price though, so that's good.
