The AK were assaulting some enemy fortress as any good IF successor, when the RG suddenly sneaked in and butchered the defenders before the former could get to them. The AK attacked the RG in anger of having their glory stolen.
Eldar allied with Necrons.

The Eldar showed up to combat a necron thread, but the Farseer in charge received a new vision that indicated that they needed to fight alongside their former enemies. Eventually reaching an uneasy alliance with the Necron Overlord, they now seek to destroy this new foe so they can resume their war against the Necrons.
Eldar having access to Imperial fortifications such as the Skyshield.

The Hive Mind was having difficulty in taking a prey world, so they permitted one of their Tyrants to attempt to summon limited aid from the warp to aid them (weak I know, but it's all I got).

The Black Templars managed to capture Cypher and wouldn't just hand him over to the Dark Angels (actually happened in the fluff, which is why Dark Angels and Black Templars hate each other).
