I seriously considered that as well. They literally dodged that bullet.

Very cool - and yet another reason the thing is awesome.

Me too. no one sells or trades them. prolly bc theyre plastic gold.

I need a speeder and its crew for adepticon. Im thinking heavy flamers on both.

The question is, can it move 12 and still fire normally bc its a fast skimmer? even if its a flamer bc were not shooting snaps

The crew can’t take HFs, MLs and HBs at best. Combi on the sarge. (unless you are talking about getting two speeders, then disregard)

Fast skimmers should be able to move 12” and fire two weapons at full BS. As you are not snap firing, the HF should work fine. Do be careful of the cerebus launcher scattering back on you though.

Model them hanging onto tree branches or fences or something.

It's a fantastic model. Really nice to build and paint. I spent ages on the interior detail, then glued in all the scouts and completely obscured it. Herp!

I actually think it's better not to magnetise the Scouts; it's actually not fantastically likely that the Storm will last long once it's broken cover and the unit has debarked and more often than not it'll be blown up because it's Open-topped, so its usefulness as a wreck is negligible.

Tactically speaking, Storms are a joy; the model is small enough to hide in all sorts of fun places, jinking and shifting to avoid fire until the opportune moment, or sitting in reserve if you have some shenanigans to help them come in at the right moment. They can then zoom up and blind units just before your assault units hit, and deposit your Scoots on a forward objective for the last couple of turns.

Give your Scout Veteran Sergeant a Power Fist and Melta Bombs for a chance at breaking a weak backfield unit, but I find that bare-bones is a more efficient and reliable way to field the unit.

Yes, they are so good. It saddens me that Blood Angels don't get them for their scouts. Now here is an army that is crying out for a landspeeder storm, Furious Charging scouts, yes please! Damn you GW...

Maybe you need to set up a drop pod for speeder storm exchange program. You’ve been loaning out your transports for a bit now to other imperials, would be nice to get some back.

Vanillas don’t have a nice FA heavy detachment to take advantage of though. You’d need to go CAD and take a HQ and two troops. Not sure what we could offer to make it worth it. A bike libi and and pair of grav squads isn’t that bad, but nothing you can’t do yourself.

Has anyone used the White Scars speeder formation? 1-3 Speeders and 1-3 Storms. Scouts get ObSec, Storms get +1 Jink while within 6" of a Speeder, and Scouts can disembark after moving up to 12". Stormbringer Squadron from Kauyon, seems pretty legit based on the conversation here. Thoughts?

I’ve looked at it, drooled over it, but not made a list with it yet. Partially because if I’m doing a formation based list, it’s mostly going to be a gladius, and it doesn’t fit in there. It’s also been a while since my last game, so that hampers my ability to try new things out.

But in theory I like it a lot. Good mobile firepower and some zippy ObSec. I think it might a good formation to splash into an otherwise static/non-scoring list.

This stuff is in the kauyon book?

Pretty sure it is Kauyon; definitely one of the new Tau books featuring Whites Scars and Raven Guard. I have it in the consolidated Whites Scars digital codex, since the Emperor wouldn't want me dabbling in xenos-tainted lore just to get a sweet new formation.

I'm planning to get this thing up and running to cover the ObSec gap in my force and to provide some cheap MSU. I'm not sure if I'm going to run them in pairs (Speed + Storm) or as a bigger formation. I have 3 Speeders with Typhoon launchers, and I'm going to start with one Storm and maybe add a second since they're so (relatively) inexpensive.

The part I really like about it is the scouts can charge after 12 inch movement out of the storm. +1 jink is nice too. I would probably run it with a naked land speeder and 3 storms - deck the scouts out with CC weapons and give the scout Sargents power fists or melta bombs.

Dead scouts = the best scouts.

Also, on a side note, a dead scout did its job. It found the enemy!
