Many (many) years ago when I first started playing 40k (1st ed) I picked up the Freebooter codex, and my Ork force has been Freebooters ever since!

I get to include all the clans (exiles mostly) in my force, with extra pirate hats thrown in for good measure!

Can't beat the Blood Axes color scheme, and their more "military" theme makes for a really funny clash with the Ork aesthetic.

I'm curious if the Bad Moons popularity is in any way related to them being GW's current poster boyz for the Orks. It's obvious though that the classy Nobs who picked Deathskulls have proper Orky values and appreciate the finer points of good looting.

Creatively i find Death Skullz, Freebooterz and Bad Moon the most interesting, because you can build about anything and it still fits the background.

In regard to background Bad Moon are my favourite with Death Skullz as a second. Freebooterz i use/hire in both. :-)
Bad Moon are "cunning, but brutal", which i find more fun then "brutal, but cunning". Bad Moon also are more shooty oriented and i play my Orks shooty first since 1st edition.
AND Bad Moon have the teef (money) to have the best gear. Nothing wrong with that and for this reason Bad Moon also hire more freebooterz than other clans.
Furthermore i like the yellow.

I've got an Ork army (or at least a detachment) of all 6 Ork Clans by the way.
