@Minimachine - Yes!! Another trick I do is that I buy the $0.25 white poster paper at the dollar store. Before I start painting, I tape a fresh sheet onto my desk (just a strip of masking tape holds it down).

Heh, i will take better shots, it is an exercise in efficiency for sure. There is an air booth, light box, paint rack, compressor, cuttingmat and 2 lights in there

Wow! That is pretty impressive, LOL. But with all that stuff, where do you stash the fusion generator and emergency light saber?

Figured I'd join in and show my current mess/workspace

I was hoping to set up my own area in the garage and have more space to spread my crap out in (like a hippo) however since we moved in 2 years ago the garage just seems to have been swamped with all the household bits and DIY stuff, maybe one day.....

I'm impressed with quite a few of these, its nice to see how other people have theirs. giving me some ideas for the garage

@Talys - awesome idea about the filter!! I am SOOO tired of dog and cat hair getting (somehow!!) on my paint area :( Even tho I dust and clean the floor - honest, really, I do.

I love these threads although some of you make me sick I only have a clean desk when I'm between projects. I usually try to get to the point of cleaning it up every so often so I can work. Right now... not so much

Also for those who think their area is messy..... bwhahahahaaaaa you almost made me fall off my chair laughing! (in my defense I have 3 kids - 4 if you count the husband! - a small house and 5 animals )

^^ here's my main disaster.. I mean work area.

^^ here's Bob - the skull. He oversees everything and offers criticism.

Some terrain stored in cheap 14X14 scrapbook boxes on the floor, minis and extra sprue in drawers under the table part. Most of the other drawers are all my scrapbooking supplies. Extra boxes of miniatures I haven't gotten to off to the side.

I keep extra terrain materials in the bins here, mostly, small boxes, etc.

You know, kb_lock, that looks like one of those old spy cupboards, where you open it up and there's a secret transmitting device

I like how you have the airbrush hood folded up in behind. How do you vent it out?

Hahaha, it kind of is like that - it folds right out with a keyboard drawer just out of frame (because it was literally covered in "stuff"

Venting? It has a filter already.

I kid, I kid. The back of that booth is about 3 inches from the back of the cupboard, there is a hole through the back, which goes right through into a crawlspace in the drywall behind it. It extracts really well. There is also a window directly to the left, which is where I was venting previously.

Here are some better pics (from 18 months ago), it really is more of a hobby just jamming more and more stuff into it. Still, I think we are going to be renovating, which will include the painting station of my dreams (ohboyohboy)

I'm so happy I carved out a crafting/hobby spot for myself, and the kids enjoy the "study" as we call it. Two of them have desks in there for homework (ostensibly, they take after momma unfortunately so it's more like a pile of )(#*$$ on top of a horizontal surface). And a good portion of our books are in that room. Of course the master plan was to stick the boys into one bedroom so they'd get sick of each other and be dying to leave the house when 18... > yeah... not working... lol

I need to get a hood for my airbrushing though =/ anyone have a good plan for a DIY one?

I have a much humbler setup, since I live in a 550 sq,ft. flat with my two kids, so space is at a premium... This is my living room/dining room/work table...

All three of us can sit around the table to paint...

That exposed socket makes me nervous. Take the ten minutes to drop drywall between those studs matey.

To me, it's like a Red Back Spider - totally safe a foot away from you as long as you respect exactly how much it can ruin your day. If you know what you're doing then I'm happy

That is a very common setup in the states in garages and basements and a lot of industrial settings.

looks like it is in a typical metal junction box. In which case, dry wall won't do diddly squat.

If it makes you feel better, up until a bit over a year ago this was the space I used to assemble minis:

And my “cutting mat” was the thick cardboard on the back of a notepad.

I will admit to being spoiled for space these days. One of the perks of mortgage payments...

It does make me feel a tad bit better, except for the fact that you got so many sprues spread out like that, just kidding, we would all love bigger areas.my cutting board is that white board, and painting board, and assembly board. And those stains on it is the inevitable wash spill!! Atleast gw made the bottles bigger now so i can spill more and have more left over.

Not much to show on my work bench, I put everything away after I use it every time so just looks like a normal office desk

I envy some of the setups you guys have!!!

Our US juice is only 110/120 volts, so getting hit is only a bit of a pick-me-up/wake up. Won't knock one on his behind like 220/240 will.

That is sweet as hell flesh tearer.

I want to do the same thing when I get my room - a little nook where you can spin around to hit each different station.
