Working on it

Carcharodons

They seem to be one of the more Grimdark chapters in the universe.

They're mysterious, an enigma. Been around since M32, no one knows the Chapter Master (Willing to bet money it's Tyberos)

They show up, do their thing Blood for the Blood God, and leave.

They're colors are cool and the line works and drawings on the armor look amazing.

Not to mention their rules make an excellent Termie heavy assault list

10/10 would recommend

<Dynasty> ~10500pts
War Coven of the Coruscating Gaze ~3000pts
Thrice-Damned Plague Corps ~3250pts
Admech (TBN) ~3500pts +30k Bots and Ulator

Salamanders tops the list for me (I have a few thousand points of them so maybe I'm biased). They actually treat humans somewhat like equals and not a bunch of annoying peasants like a lot of the other Chapters do. Plus, I like their Dragon themes and their "KILL IT WITH FIRE!" style of play.

I've always loved the Carcharadons, though why not just take the extra step and play khorne haha.

Salamanders have always been fun, but they've always seemed a bit too pious for me.

Well lets see. The only Adeptus Astartes Chapter to stand up to the Imperium leadership about the Callous loss of life is... Space Wolves. Grimnar might as well be the most loved man in the Imperium. Every Wolf Lord is unique, every Great Company different. They are to a man, individuals.

They are standing between Abaddon beside Creed, for the entirety of the Imperium. Anyone else at the Gates of Cadia... Nope, Just Grimnar, Creed, the the majority of Fenris + Cadia... And anyone else who shows up will have to kill Bjorn to remove Grimnar from command. And Bjorn is 10 Millennium old. Good Fething luck.

Every other "Chapter" or Founding legion is bland and cookie cutter, compared to each other, Wolves or Guard. Go home you sad sorry Marines.

Salamanders actually take the cake hard here. And Chapter Master Tu'shan beats out Grimnar for Good Guy space marine.

As if Uriel Ventris and Cato Sicarius are the same? How about their Company?

I remember when Dorn sacrificed himself in a futile attempt to bide time for Cadia during the first Black Crusade... Seemed pretty selfless didn't it?

Ah yes... Every single one is cookie cutter. White Scars are just like Iron Hands? How about Salamanders and Carcharodons Astra? Ultramarines are the same as Imperial Fists? Black Dragons are like Fire Hawks (LotD)?

Space Wolves by a long shot.
I don't consider Deathwatch to be a chapter when they consist of marines from other original chapters.

Here's to me in my sober mood,
When I ramble, sit, and think.
Here's to me in my drunken mood,
When I gamble, sin, and drink.
And when my days are over,
And from this world I pass,
I hope they bury me upside down,
So the world can kiss my ass!

Raven Guard or Lamanters for me. These guys are not the usual "Invincible demigods" that space marines are usually portrayed as, especially in the Lamanter's case as they are frequently gakked on by the universe at large. Ravens, on the other hand, are sneaky bastards in power armor and have a great backstory short of the actual traitor legions.

Speaking of which, if we do include the traitor legions, Night Lords and their raptors are my fav by a country mile. Especially their primarch, who managed what amounts to a "I told you so" to the Emperor (well, his assassin anyways, but he was watching) just before he died. Then there's the series of novels (although most of which I still need to get through).

Hell, I'm not that bothered by the Stormraven. Why? Because, as it stands right now, it's "limited use".When it's shoehorned in to the Codex: Space Marines, then yeah. I'll be irked.

Definitely the Grey Knights. While other Space Marine Chapters have their own traditions and personality, each one exists within tbe context of their world view. Space Wolves are immortal Werewolf Vikings, Blood Angels are tragic Vampiric Angel, Ultramarines are literally Ultra Marines. Where the Grey Knights differ is that they understand and interact with the meta of the 40k universe. They understand why everything is the way it is, why the grim dark is a thing, why the death of millions saves billions. Their tragedy is that they know their work is impossible, yet they work every waking hour to make it possible. While the White Scars are runnibg down Orks and the Dark Angels are erasing their traitorous past, the Grey Knights are holding back a dark tide of corruption that no one can know about, or that knowledge will make the dark tides stronger. Where the other Astartes are immortal children fighting the bad guys, the Grey Knights are the adults trying to kerp the lights on and roof over the heads of humanity.

That's real character.

Until one of them looks out the window of a strike cruiser, at refugee transports his siblings are shooting down, and asks himself if he's really on the right side ...

The Chaos Daemons codex has an interesting first-person account, which tells the other side of the story in the Grey Knights codex.

Yeah, the Salamenders are extremely characterful. The drakescales and fire motifs are cool, as are the colours. They also have an excellent interplay between the threatening, almost daemonic appearance and the moral, philanthropic nature of the chapter. There's loads of potential for heroism and tragedy.

I've seen rumors suggesting we'll be getting a mention and some rules in an upcoming supplement. Jensus Natorian from the DW:O box is the first official Blood Raven model, but we're supposedly going to see more soon.

2000 Khorne Bloodbound (Skullfiend Tribe- Aqshy)
1000 Tzeentch Arcanites (Pyrofane Cult - Hysh) in progress
2000 Slaves to Darkness (Ravagers)
