I can tell the original (and current) purpose for the Showcase forum was to make a forum where people who just wanted to find pics of finished models could easily find them...because back when we just had a regular P&M forum, it could be find to hard the 'finished' threads in between all the WIP stuff.

So under that basic premise, having tons of commission work is totally fine (maybe even preferable), because we want a place for people to look at awesome, awesome miniature work, which just so happens to frequently be done by commission painters.

'a add'

Honestly, I don't mind at all and I go there specifically to find gorgeous stuff. The more elite-tier painting shown, the longer I spend in there.

TBH I feel that there should be a requisite when making a thread in that forum. An option that MUST be checked to make the thread: [WIP] or [FINAL] - something along those lines.

The Showcase is only for finished work, so a WIP tag would be redundant.

I think I agree with the notion that the influx of pro-painters may have shifted the tone of the Showcase forum. The demonstrated standard if painting here at Dakka is very high on average.

What actually confounds me is the number of Modelling blogs that only post finished models. I go into the P&M section looking for people's show of progress and WIP stuff and half or more of the threads are basically just showcases.
