#6 - Measuring vertical distances for shooting. I really was a fan of the "top-down" approach. It feels weird to me that a pistol shot from atop a building has less distance than one shot from the base.

The 'top down' approach has never actually been a thing... measuring distances between models has always been from base edge to base edge.

Your pistol on a building doesn't shoot less distance than one on the ground. It just doesn't go as far horizontally.

#7 - The book says what a "best" save is, but they now say that players can choose whatever they feel is best. Not terribly surprised, but it does suck that they went this way.

Why is this a bad thing?

Because now you can't force your opponent to take a 3+ when they have access to a 4+ rerollable! Nyuk nyuk nyuk

Right here, at the moment

Re-rollable 4++ vs 3+ armour, for example
statistically the 4++ would be better, but the 3+ could be enforced as the "best" save

Quite happy the Wyvern thing was sorted out.

Mind you not too sure what the whole fuss DE players have. Troops inside snap firing due to jinks is kind of common sense.

Yeah, like Dark Eldar players needed any more nerfs. Our vehicles need to jink to survive and our troops need to be in vehicles to survive. But if I do both I have literally no fire power. This ruling has totally killed off Gunboats and made the only viable troop choice Venom Spam. Way'da increase unit diversity there GW.

I suspect the disconnect there is that it's never occurred to me to 'force' an opponent to use any particular save. I've gone for the last 15 years assuming that the reference to players having the ability to use the best save gave them options, rather than forced them to use any one in particular.

If you're getting into the minutiae of whether a 3+ or a 4+-rerollable is statistically better... well, that's valuable pew-pew time a-wasting!

I was right about a good deal of it, but most importantly the Gargantuan Creatures can fire all of their weapons and at any targets.

I debated this point on this very forum more times than I can count and even earned peoples ire and they even blocked my posts from being seen.

I was right. It feels so good.

Eh it was a matter of opinion depending on how you saw it. In addition, people who were right (such as Tradito and grenades) weren't right before the FAQs.

That said, we were pleasantly surprised that our Ad Mech friend could no longer borrow our Drop Pods, much to his chagrin. Also liked the toe in cover stuff, minus the vehicles/monstrous creatures getting it. Grenades was a stinker for my Orks/BA but it looks like the backlash might turn that ruling into how people were usually playing it. ]

Jink and passengers was huge and finally convinced me to sell my DE stuff. But it's weird how so many people are against that. It didn't make sense that a vehicle could be engaging in evasive movements and yet the passengers fire as if it was standing still.

Quantum Shielding too. My Necron friend didn't like that. Essentially Zoanthropes autoglance now.

I assume that's because you think like a decent human being playing a game, not an donkey-cave rules lawyer who wonders why the only time he can get a game is when there's a local tourny that forces people to play with him

Opinions are not facts please don't confuse the two

I really wish these FAQs were released in a way that I could search through them on my ipad, instead of having to flip through 38 pages, hoping to find what I'm looking for...

Dunno if this helps, but here's a searchable g-docs version.

I believe you can download a searchable pdf from that as well.

Shout out to pretre, who posted the compilation in another thread and I shamelessly ripped it.

What i was right about and my group called me a cheat for this:

Models equipped with a weapon that says " the bearer..." or "" model equipped with this ..." can use the weapons rules, even if it doesn't attack with said weapon.

Makes my Goredrinker+Axe of Khorne legal and undisputable, for my groups mates who said that i was a cheat, go suck on a goats dick ;p

Also the fact that a flyer isn't destroyed when its speed is blocked and ends his movement above another unit and you use the wobbly model syndrome.

What surprised me as many other si show wrong we where with the grenade thing.

Was also suprised with the FMC that can choose what mode they comes in when summoned/conjured, whould have though another response to this and a bad one.

Pretty disappointing about the grenade Nerf. Infantry need buffs not nerfs...Would have prefered them allow a full unit to throw grenades in the shooting phase.

You want a 50 man unit of Conscripts to be able to toss 50 frag grenades?
Yes. I did it with Cultists in Retribution, and it was awesome.

Also, I was right sbout two grav shots removing 3 hp. Never could convince anyone before now.
