This.
I also find it ironic that an Alaitoc player is posting this thread considering how essentially cancerous Alaitoc were was an army in 3rd ed. Literally, an entire army that functioned around exploiting a Jones is Behaving Strangely table effect.

I think Eldar are about the only race right now where they can take the LEAST optimized units, 2-4 of them if they wanted, and still have a better then 50/50 of winning. Not because they have good strategy, but because GW has turned the Eldar faction into the De facto "Easy Mode" army.
If you do a comparison you will quickly find that Eldar have the best units in most categories. LoW Wraithknight wins hands down, Troops? Scatbikes by far,
I feel that this is one of the reasons for my rant. I started playing back when most of my eldar units sacked and bringing a Wraithlord was considered cheese. Now it is hard for me to get a game in with anyone at a lfgs other than my own as most every opponent I meet refuses to play because my army is overpowered.....even when I promise to not bring bikes and swear that I don't even own a wraithknight. The stigma of Eldar was perpetuated by such unoriginal waac lists........
Well, and the fact that the worst units in the Eldar codex would be Auto includes in my Ork Codex....
To be fair, basic Boyz and lootas are great units compared to some of the stuff on other armies. Lootas are even great as anti-air.
....no. Boyz would be good if they had standard 4+ armor, but they don't, and the upgrade to get them that armor is a 66% increase in their cost. On top of that, if you assault boyz or survive the 1st round you are fine because boyz are only S3....
Lootaz would be good, if they had D3+1 shots and had access to BS3. But they dont. 15 lootaz will shoot on average 30 shots a turn, 10 hits at S7. To get that You have to pay 210pts and you get 6+ armor with a LD of 7, which means your going to be running off the table a lot. Compared to Scat bikers, for 216pts (6 more) you can take 8 Scat Bikes which put out 32 S6 shots 24 of which will hit on average. So besides against AV13 which would you take? I know I just compared apples to a Nuclear weapon, but still
Lootas are only good because the rest of the codex sucks, Against flyers they are decent *unless you roll D1 for shots, in which case, sucks to be you.

To be fair, the table to roll on back then wasnt that good, it didn't effect anything in a vehicle or with an armor value, it was only at the beginning of the game, and I would either end up putting a unit in reserve, free shots, or nothing would happen at all for buying pathfinders at 35 points.....not nearly as good as the demon warp table, nor as strong as many other armies back in 3rd. In fact Rouge Trader tournaments wouldn't even allow it because it was a Supplement book . But I digress.....
