(tau HQ not quite available elsewhere too)
So a new GK HQ as part of a getting started kit, totally possible.
That of course adds up delay. First they need to release the GK HQ in other box, then wait for a while and then release start collecting set.
Warzone: Fenris is coming in the fall. Perfect opportunity to release a clampack GK hero. Then a couple of months later, a GK Get Started! bundle in time for Christmas. Hell, they can drop the Dark Angels and Tzeentch ones then as well to follow up on the hype from the campaign.
Slight OT, but do you have solid dates on that, what month etc? I'm currently making up GK Libby and was planning to get bits for a GM but if there's definitely potential for a new GK model or two I'll hold off.

Hard not to get 2 of them.

I was pretty surprised to see the CSM set contains 100% entirely useless models. Oh wait. No I wasn't.

Basic infantry, a dual HQ (Lord/sorcerer) and a dread.
Should csm as a whole been functional, it would have been a fine set. Not the set's fault the codex is abysmal and nothing in it works.

The Nid box I personally think is a great deal!
Get two boxes and you already have a decent starting point! I did that myself when starting plus some termi's and turned one unit of warriors into shrikes.... really happy with it!

What did you use to convert the Warriors into Shrikes? I'm tempted to do it, but you just know that as soon as a new codex gets released that Shrikes will be removed from it as there are no models.

In terms of pure dollar value:
Militarium Tempestus, Tau, Ad Mech, Tyranids, Dark Eldar and the two Daemon sets are probably the best value for what you get.
In terms of strong units:
Eldar, Tau, Ad Mech, and Space Wolves are probably the best. Militarium Tempestus, Tyranids and the two Daemon boxes come in second because while those units are technically all useable and useful (especially the Militarium tempestus one, since that's literally all they got other than a valk), they're not the most spectacular of units compared to what the first set give you.
Personally I think the other space marine sets are a total waste of money, but then again I have over 400 space marines of various flavours so I'm a little bias

Hell, I'm not that bothered by the Stormraven. Why? Because, as it stands right now, it's "limited use".When it's shoehorned in to the Codex: Space Marines, then yeah. I'll be irked.
When I'm editing alot, you know I have a gakload of homework to (not) do. |

Vargheist wings are ny far the best but can be hard to get. I simply used csm possessed jetpack (or whatever they're called). Cut the backpack part off and greenstuffed them into the top arm slot.
You can also find the official fw shrike wings on evay fairly easily at a variety of prices. Tbh I doubt they'll be removed, we'll at least have the FW rules for them still.
