Hi there guys it's Chris from VMS! When we first created the product page for Clean Slate we never suspected it would arise so many questions! You guys have extensive knowledge of the solvents out there and I salute you! No wonder you want to know more about the Slate as there are many rinky-dink companies out there pushing IPA and what not calling them Perfect or Super cleaners fishing for a quick buck, not caring about the modeller's experience. In many cases they don't even properly test their “products” and we end up with problems like cracking, clear plastic getting milky or a rash on our hands.

We at VMS are the opposite of that, we conduct extensive R&D for any product we create, even something so simple as a paint stripper. Clean Slate is the pinnacle in acrylic paint stripping as it is devised just for the purpose of modelling it's not some makeshift solution based on a product designed for something else. I will be happy to list the advantages of the Slate:

It doesn't damage polystyrene even if the exposure is very long, you may soak a complicated part for days even. If you did that with raw (2-(2-Butoxyethoxy)ethanol) or the popular and more toxic
2-Butoxyethanol you would end up with cracked or swollen plastic.

It has mild odour and is not harmful by inhalation like your regular brake fluids and other 2-Butoxyethanol based concoctions.

It is not caustic and doesn't cause skin irritation or cracking, other fluids may and often do.

It deals with polyurethane primers just fine. We tested with Vallejo, modern PUs primers are in fact acrylic dispersions.

We tested it with resin parts (yellow creamy colour) from Panzer Art company and it worked fine.

It is reusable! Yes that's not a joke you can use it several times and filter using strainers to conserve the fluid!

It beats IPA hands down both in speed and comfort of use.

If you have any other questions please as away, I will be happy to clarify!

And now for the fun part: Since you are so much into paint stripping I am happy to present you all with a universal coupon entitling you to buy the Slate at a promotional price – just for the dakkadakkadakka.com users! Coupon works on ebay, simply copy-paste it into your browser to be able to buy the Slate at a discounted price. Certainly enjoy hearing the marketing spank. no actual offense.

and a discount is certainly appreciated. any plans on having USA side distributors? the shipping is killing me

Edit: also very very interested to try it on various resin types. specifically FW resin and finecast.

Non taken, but that's all actually true, we are here for the long run not for a quick buck, offering something that wouldn't work as advertised would be a suicide. We will have some USA distributors in a couple of months, and you are right postage to USA is steep, we ship by GLOBAL Express with full tracking as USPS suppressed standard registered mail tracking a year ago which means GLOBAL Express is only viable option.
