Every time I see this pop up I regret cancelling my pledge. I might have to get on board this time.

There's a new KS coming for Relicblade this week, with a couple of new factions (gangster lizardmen and mystic elves, I gather?).

I backed the KS that delivered earlier this year and have been very impressed so far. The minis are absolutely beautiful, particularly the Lone Guard and Darkness factions (i.e. the most recent ones). And the game plays quickly and decisively, with a fun campaign mode.

It might be worth making a new thread for the new KS (this one is a year old), or we could update the OP of this one if you prefer (if you type up the text for it ).

I'm quite interested myself!

Good call. Shall we wait till Friday so the KS is live? I am not sure I'll be near a computer between then and Sunday though (off to a LARP for the weekend).

Looking sweet! But I think they should show more unpainted pics like that first one, if possible, just to demonstrate the detail. I'll definitely be backing this

Hoping the KS offers some good deals on existing product too as i'm just discovering the game.

I'm actually thrilled that all my Kickstarter money this month is going to this and Chill RPG, as both are genuine indies doing incredible work. Beats the hell out of KS Preorder for the big-boys, culture.

I totally agree about that!

Sean is a one-man band. He designs everything himself. He does all the art. He does all the marketing and distribution.

The fact that Relicblade looks so great on paper and in person is a huge testament to his talent.

KS is principally for this kind of creator. Great chance to show him some well-deserved support!

It also helps that he is always on time!

When will this new KS start? I feel the urge to get the "everything" bundle, if it has all the previous releases in it with a bit of a discount..

The KS starts tomorrow.

During the last KS, you could pledge for exiting products at a slight discount. I think, for example, that the 2-player starter set might have been 10USD less than retail.

Both previous Kickstarters I have considered backing, even though I know I'd never actually get anyone I know to play it. I just think it looks cool and deserves support. I'm glad it continues to do well.

How does the progression/adventure system work in this game, incidentally?

You set a goal before the campaign starts, like collect all 4 unique relics or play for points (it gives you some examples what it could be) and play missions, either random or connected. You earn gold and fame (?). Gold goes into upgrades, fame hires new guys. You keep equipment and relics throughout the missions.
You can train your camp followers (smith, alchemist, etc) to produce better stuff or give upgrades.
If a character gets knocked out during the game, you roll after the game what happens to him.

The book also provides different settings (badlands, dungeon, giant ruins and fairy forest) with tables for random encounters/events to spice up the missions.

The random additions to scenarios tend to be very cool. Last couple of games I played with my daughter, we got:

1) a dungeon setting with the main mission being activating three mystic waystones, and a side mission being the possibility of looting the corpse of an ancient king

2) a wilderness mission that involved escorting (or ambushing) a pack yak, with a possible side mission of donating alms (1-2 Gold) to a magical beggar in the doorway of a ruin.

In both cases the side quest added a bit of strategic and tactical interest.

In for the 2 player set and the new stuff.

Hopefully there's an option to get that set shipped out early.

I almost wish that cat and dog from the guest artist illo were going to get figures.

Poorly lit photos of my ever- growing collection of completely unrelated models!

I'm so stoked for this one, I only slept a few hours so I could get up early and pledge. To anyone on the fence, Relicblade is fantastic game made entirely by one awesome dude (Sean Sutter). It may actually be my favorite miniatures game (or very close to it). It plays quickly and decisively on a small (2'x2') play area, has a ton of customization, and the Seeker's handbook offers a ton of the most interesting scenarios and variations I've ever experienced. The rules are also very straight-forward and easy to teach, yet offer a lot of depth. It is a perfect game if you love miniature gaming, but don't have a ton of time to paint millions of minis or read 300 pages of rules (or have an entire room devoted to gaming).

Not to mention the minis are fantastic and paint up very nicely. This is a perfect example of what Kickstarter should be used for , as opposed to big preorder tool we too often see it used as.

I'm in for the $150, and should the pledge-manager allow, could see myself at the very least adding every other existing card-pack. I assume that would allow proxy models, while still letting a player have access to all the game-play options?

Update #1

Oct 14 2017

HOORAY, FIRST DAY!!

BOOM!! Funded and First Stretch Goals Destroyed!!

Oh wow! I don't even know what to say... I'm speechless. Your support has been utterly amazing. Not only backing the project right out of the gate, but also promoting the campaign on social media and with friends. I am honored and humbled! I sincerely thank you for supporting Relicblade.

I don't want to blow past the fact that we funded! What a wonderful achievement. As I plan these project I always wish I could just produce these expansions out of pocket, but there are obvious barriers. So coming here to show what I made and see if anyone is interested is a little nerve wracking. I am delighted to my core that you like it.

OGRE!

FINALLY, DANG IT! GOSH DUDE. I'm so happy I could cry.
The Ogre Gladiator was a stretch goal on the first Kickstarter Campaign and we landed just shy of being able to produce him. It's such a great example of how reliant I am on the crowdsource to actually produce the game! I could have sculpted the figure and produced it, but the campaign offers more than just financial support. When we unlock stretch goals it locks in my work schedule and establishes a committed deadline. My relationship with my backers is powerful financial and moral support.

I am encouraged and driven to achieve so much more, explicitly because of your support.

GUEST ARTIST: DARKWIZARD BERSERKER

NO WAY!!!!! I can't believe I'm breezing past such a significant landmark to dive into the guest artist goal. You've out done yourselves! Time to share more detail beyond the above teaser!

Scott jumped right in and started scratching out the grim vision of a "Dwarven Berserker, clad in the skins of primordial beasts, clenching his crude weapons and gnashing his teeth to blood and rending his enemies asunder."

To which I responded, " uuuuuuuuhhhhhhhhhh yeahh duuuudddeeeeeeeee!!!!!"

" Fear not the night ! Fear not the cold ! The true killers are the dwarves of the ancient forest, for they howl like mad men and fight with the tenacity of a dying animal, I have seen the old berserkers wade through the fray of combat in less than wolves skin, seemingly mad with the joy of battle and the sound of slaughter. Pray they see you as friend, and if not .. at least pray for a quick death !! "

- Gorbag the Diseased, 3rd Troop, Goblin Legion

' When I saw the wild dwarves of the deep forest descend upon the front line, I wept .. for the tides of battle was surely ruin. For I have known no other creature to fight with such wild abandon as the Dogs of War !! ' ...

-Sgt. Brogg Hellshriek, of the Goblin Legion 32

The Hellhound Dwarf Berserker will be a champion of the Advocate. This guy is so brutal! He's definitely the most savage "good guy" so far. The path of the Advocate is a mysterious force that calls to the core of a hero. You may imagine a shining paladin as the symbol of advocacy, but dainty wild elves aren't the only wild-hearted creatures who find themselves serving the path of redemption.

The dwarves of the ancient forest stood firm against the crushing surge of evil. Countless souls were lost fighting into the twilight of civilization, yet a brutal few persist with iron resolve and calloused bleeding hands. The blood soaked berserkergang stands fiercely defiant to the forces of darkness and is rightly feared!!

LEGENDS 3!!! Sunday, 9am Pacific Time.

What a legendary first day! Speaking of LEGENDARY the Chronicler of Legend pledge level went super fast and I know a lot of people were disappointed to miss out. I'm happy to take on another round of Legends pledges. It's a lot of work, but I just can't say NO to people hoping to get original art and contribute to the Relicblade Mythos!

This new pledge level will be for a 3rd Legends booster pack! (Return of the Legends?)
I will add a new Chronicler of Legend pledge level. It will be limited to 10 and I won't be able to do another one during this campaign. So consider it carefully and set an alarm if you want to snag it!

The NEW Chronicler of Legend Pledge level will open on Sunday, October 15th at 9am Pacific Time.

OK. Holy moly. I didn't expect to have all those updates to write so soon! THANK YOU THANK YOU!!!!!!! :O

Sean Sutter

The art for that dwarf berserker model looks pretty sweet! What faction does it work for, though?

Text from the update says "Path of the Advocate" - so, the good guys.

Stretch Goal Add-Ons!

Hey Team!

I promise not to flood your email with updates all the time, but we blasted through two more stretch goals! With the flood of support I was caught flatfooted (heh, D&D reference). So I DON'T have 3d renders or work in progress sculpts for the new stuff!

I thought I would have this week to get into ZBrush and get some work in on the first stretch goal to help encourage people to pledge. But I haven't even had the chance to boot up zbrush before nearly all my wish-list of stretch goals got funded!

This morning I put together an Add-On marketplace specifically for the stretch goals. A lot of the new stuff is just a sketch of what I think the models will look like. It's rough concept work and subject to change. It should still give you an idea of what's included and help visualize the new stuff. The Ogre costs a little extra since he'll be a larger model on a 40mm base. The price structure is pretty much standard for RB.

The Battle Pig Faction Set will be a full faction set like the others. It will include four figures, 10 cards, and a scenario, all packed in a nice package with a pretty full color illustration. I'm really excited to offer an entry point for players to start Pig war bands. I'm also planning on adding an extra weapon-sprue so you'll be able to assemble these ones a little differently if you already have pigs from the core set. As noted above you can add the warlord and the new pig cards separately if you so choose.

Thanks for making this campaign so successful!!

Your Friend,

Sean Sutter

Relicblade has been flying through its initial stretch goals:
Spoiler:

That said, the $27k stretch goal is by far the most exciting:

I recently got a copy of the Seeker's Handbook (available at a discount price through this KS) and it really provides the "umpf" that the rulebook in the 2-player set somewhat lacked, with all kinds of scenario creation tools. It makes me really excited for where Sean can take the game going forward.
