Neferata does enjoy a good battle (as long as she is winning) - but lots of intersting insights - thanks - must go back and read some of the sources!

I am hoping Naamia comes back too

Neffy comes across as weak-ish in the novel because it opens with her losing a major conflict, and her main goal for the rest of the novel becomes trying to seduce/corrupt/get in good with the Stormcast only to find they are generally immune to that sort of thing. But to her credit, before she lost it Neffy had a whole city of people who more or less worshiped her which was hidden from Chaos for ~400 years. Neither of the other two pulled something like that off.

I chose an avatar I feel best represents the quality of my post history.

I try to view Warhammer as more of a toolbox with examples than fully complete games.

She was not trying to win the conflict until the stormcast pop up she was taking her favorite items and booking it with a realm gate she has under her city and even then nagash pops up and GG's the chaos army. Arkhan was with nagash the whole time in the underworld and per Nagash's words that mannfred in actually resisted chaos the best out of his mortarch's so mannfred has been fighting chaos for over 400 years.

I dunno I personally enjoyed neferata in the novel maybe that's just me. Neferata normally tries to avoid war because that is not her forte never was and she will only commit to the field when she knows she can outright win and in whfb she lured small armies to sliver pinnacle when she gets bored but she makes sure that she can defeat the force before they get there. Even in neferata's times of legend novel by josh she makes the same mistakes constantly that are made in lord of undeath.

She is a plotter and corrupter not a fighter considering how Hakdron and his knights are wrapped around her finger so utterly shows where he true talents lie nagash even states as such when he examines Hakdrons mind. Also her plan with the stormcast worked to an extent since nagash says that in the future stormcast/sigmar most likely still view her as a "friend" due to the events of the book and mannfred as enemy(Manny views chaos and sigmar as an enemy of shyish) hence nagash can have his "stalemate" to gather as many souls as possible that were out of reach. Stormcast and marked chaos worshiper souls.

Yep Neferta loves to win - but she has also always enjoyed battle - is another place she can feel alive, its another one of her weaknesses - like her vanity, her need to be loved, obeyed and worshiped - Nagash does not care if he is loved or even really worshiped but he will be obeyed. She was taught by one of the finest warriors in th world that was and it amuses her that opponents forget this. Her battles around Silver Pinnacle - especially before it fell, where vital part of her scheming but she was almost always at the heart of battles. She, like many immortals still needs thrills - facing the Dwarf king and his household alone was fun for her (as well as serving her goals)

I just found her different to the woman we saw in her own novels - different author, different take on her - also disapointed her handmaiden went down so easily. Her former companions were pretty formidable in their own right and again she was unusual in this as they were pretty devoted to her: As her favourite said:

We are tools, Neferata. You call us sisters, but we are but pieces on your game board. You collect us and hoard us and sometimes you spend us.... and we love you for it, because we cannot help but to do so....

Lets face it no one who is with Mannfred for any length of time will trust him. Arkhan and Neferata can be reasoned with, but dealing with Mannfred is like dealing with the Skaven - they will trun on you its just a question of when - he (like the Skaven) can't help himself.

I loved Mannfred's attitude when he was working with the Stormcast: "you hate me, you know I'm going to betray you, and you'll help me anyway trollololol".
