It mostly just seems fiddly trying to get the ball in to the hole during a game, one of those moments that increases the likelihood of damaging my models by 10 times

And converted models aren't going to have the holes unless you ebay the bases because I don't think GW currently sell them separately.

Ah but then the holes are shallow and even less stable You'll notice the GW ones with the holes cast in have about 3mm extra material below the hole so that the ball doesn't flop around in the hole.

I guess you could attach some material under the base THEN drill it, but I'm not loving the holes to begin with so I'd sooner go out of my way to remove them completely than go through that much trouble to add them to other models

Indeed. Magnets or a ball ring make more sense overall.

Yeah magnetising is the way forward. Even with GW's purpose-made holes it can be a pain. It's quite difficult to get the ball slotted into the Orc Blitzer's base I find, due to how the model is posed.

As for the teams I'll be hoping to play this season, I'll be looking at either the Elven Union or Dark Elf teams. That said though, the Wardancers' awesome abilities have caused the Wood Elf team to catch my eye and I'm enjoying and having some success with the humans from the box set. I'm going to be working abroad for the next six months so won't have much time to play, so I'm hoping there'll be releases for some of the above teams in the meantime, which will help me decide come the summer.

I filled my holes. I build up my bases anyways. I put magnets into the balls, and the bases.

Why wait for the models to be released when you can just grab some AoS ones and make up whatever team you want? Thats what I'm doing with my chaos and lizardmen teams.

I've mentioned in other threads, but mainly because they tend to look bad unless you put in a huge amount of effort converting them.

If you aren't attached to using GW approved models and can't wait for GW to release models, the better bet is buy 3rd party models, google "fantasy football" and the name of the team and you'll usually find a few manufacturers. There's options out there for pretty much all teams, often there's multiple options.

Here you are, better than searching for 'fantasy football' unless you want to make your dream team of various premiership players. I wouldnt be caught dad doing that.

I said "fantasy football" AND the name of the team, ie. Lizardmen, Elves, Halfings, Goblins, etc etc. You won't find too many Goblins or Skinks playing for any of the major real life football leagues around the globe

For example google "Fantasy Football Elves" and look for images...

Or Lizardmen...

I haven't really stopped playing Blood Bowl. I have some teams of the old GW minis, some teams made up from alternate manufacturers, and some that I've converted.

Impact! miniatures Gators- lizardman team.

This is a werewolf from Willy Miniatures (they make great looking Blood Bowl minis.

I love playing my Vampire team- they're later Blood Bowl minis, and have more current style and proportions.

These are GW minis from the '90s. They really show their age, but the very non-'90s color scheme helps to disguise their age.

Here's a GW plastic minotaur I made for my Chaos team.

I need to get some photos of my Barbazu team. They play as Ogres- I have big bearded devils for the ogres and tiny imps for the snotlings.

And I've got tons of minis from various kickstarters that are destined to become one team or another. I think my favorite concept right now is to take the Wrath of Kings pigmen and turn them into an orc team.

I'm waiting to see what the models for Dark Elves look like.

Or if GW somehow mess those up then I will look at Necromantic or Undead.

I've been painting up my Nurgle rosters team this week, I'll probably field them as such, but might just use them as plain chaos.

Also I dug out all my stuff and will probably redo my metal dwarves as I do not like the new ones at all .
Still have lizardman, Khemri, amazons, orcs(which might be redone using the new plastics mixed in), humans (mainly new plastics), Norse and I'd love to do new skaven but the budget is tight right now.

Working on my Orc team, in which will tend to be my main team for now. Have a future place to make my humans look more Greek Hoplite-like, but that is after I get done with my backlog.

Affton, MO. USA

Well I started on some of my Bloodbowl nurgle team, but decided to make enough to field as both nurgle or chaos, so I have more beast men to work on and need to build some chaos warriors too. Here they are still work in progress.

I've found some other teams that I like the look of the figs, but not GW lines, so I'm waiting on some fun money as the budget is dead currently.

I have only just started playing BB, but I think I'd either stick with the Orcs (though I'd like a couple extra blitzers or black orcs) or I'll try waiting for Lizardmen, as I really do like their aesthetic. I know next to nothing about any particular teams' playstyles, however.

If you are looking for more Orcs, I am guessing later down the line they are going to come out with a team box and a troll as well. Other idea, if you got the know-how, is to grab a box of old-style Orc boyz or the new stuff from AoS to get those last ones.

As for other teams playstyles:
Skaven: Agile and Dodgy. If you are extended in blocking engagements without a Rat Orge, you have done something wrong or most of your guys were hit and KO'd before.
Human: Kind of the jack-of-all-trade team. The Catchers though you want to keep out of blocking zones because they are fragile.
Elves: Agile and Dodgy but more so than Skaven. Again, you usually want to avoid blocking if possible and want to be using your speed and agility (and skills from it) as much as possible.
Dwarves: Slow but sturdy. Have access to a oneshot player that can wreck the opposition.

Granted I am not an expert and this is what I have read, but this is the general idea.
