Yes! That means I'm back in

Quick question - can proof images be of models that are already painted that I intend to strip, or is it preferable that I strip down the models first?

Either or, so long as it's clear you've not 'started' yet.

Would Blood Claws fit the Rogues and Scoundrels theme?

Yeah me too! Cannoness Veridyan will have to wait! I had even planned a Inq28 squad of conversions to go with her... Maybe next month then :-p

Bye bye Dakkadakka, happy hobbying! I really enjoyed my time on here. Opinions were always my own :-)

They are "completed" models, but they were painted at a time where my painting skills were not even half as good as they are now.

Seeing as I'll have to paint strip them anyway, I'll probably put them up after that's done

Yep, stripping/recovering models seems to be fine. My entry this past month was some eBay Dire Avengers I stripped, re-based, re-painted etc.

oh man...please stop talking about paint stripping! I'm currently about 1/4 way through stripping a big batch of 90-odd old assorted plastic/metal marines (RTB01's, a bunch of metal marines/termies from '89-'94 and a few plastic marines from one of the first starter sets)...and I'll also have to strip the minis I'll be entering for this too...halp

Isopropyl, ZoBo - stripping has never been easier

It doesn't seem to work so well on old/metal miniatures, but since I mostly own plastic, it's done well for me, even on my old stuff.

Or on metal, if you are willing to get new bases... pure acetone works wonders.

It will melt anything plastic, probably greenstuff too. Paint comes right off.

edit: and to keep it relevant, gotta start digging for some scoundrels.

I think it was actually you that put me onto iso months ago...and yeah, it's pretty great, that's what I am using ...not sure if it's because I'm using 100% iso, or if it's because I let them soak for...not sure, maybe as long as a month?...about 25-30 marines, metal legs/torso/head one-piece, with plastic arms and backpacks...and everything is getting stripped just dandy ...heck it even nuked whatever glue the previous owner used, so all the arms, shoulders, weapons, backpacks, and bases all just slide apart in my hands with no pressure

...it's just the sheer volume of things I have to strip that's a pain...the actual stripping is almost too easy

also, I discovered that those marines have served as at least 3 armies before I got them...it looks like they were crimson fists originally(dark blue paint), then imperial fists(bright yellow paint), and then some kind of dark angels I think(2-tone dark and medium green paint)...they were like onions! ...soon they will become a fourth army, salamanders

Most likely, that thread of mine was on the Exalted page for quite some time - I was surprised that Isopropyl is such a well kept secret to a lot of experienced hobbyists, me included.

I've found that time is irrelevant when stripping my models - all that matters is that the model still has Iso on it when you go to scrub it, and you should obtain the same results as your would from soaking it. Seems like Isopropyl is incredibly erratic, given all the different reports my thread gathered on it

Invest in something bigger than a toothbrush and those models should be done in no time at all!

Luckily none of my models have had previous paintjobs - sounds like you were doing some kind of archaeology project given all those layers

I just have 3 Ork Bikers to strip... I do have 6 altogether, but since that'd be over the model limit, I'll stick with 3. I'll also have to dig up my masking tape to do their pinstripe trousers - it's been a while since I last painted a Freebooter in my finalised scheme!

ah i was hoping for winter, or failing that black and white since could have entered the same thing for either.

I may join the freebooter party, I have a long term project to convert a toy ship into a Ork ship (won't get that whole piece done in time obviously) or try to stretch the theme a bit, I will dig few a few bits and see what I can cobble together as always

haha...well as usual, I'm already looking forward to seeing what you come up with by the end of the month!

hmm...there's an idea...not sure though, I'll have to have a good look at the models again to see if I can really make them work in a freebooter style...they're pretty "tacticool"
