You should post that in a "What Sisters of Battle set do you want to see in 2017".

I didn't see one.

Why exactly does this thread focus only on Space Marine kits?

Because that's what the OP asked? That's like going into Burger King and yelling "Why don't you sell pizza??"

Maybe because the OP created the thread to focus only on Space Marine Kits? I mean, it is the title.

I third, fourth, fifth? Scouts getting a new box set.

Yeah, but, I mean, it's just a wishlisting thread.

So, start one for Sisters? S'not hard.

I thought my opening post was very gentle and diplomatic. I didn't question why it was a Space Marines only thread, I just wanted to participate.

So, start one for Sisters? S'not hard.

If I made a wishlisting thread, I wouldn't specify an army to wishlist for, I'd leave it open so people can wishlist for any army they want.

I don't even care if they roll all the razorback kits into one. I'd be happy with a 19$ sprue that gave me all the damn turret options. Scrounging up assault cannons for a Lion's Blade is damn annoying.

I also wish they'd come out with a gravgun sprue like they have for Melta/Plasma. Off topic but they damn sure need to come out with a weapons sprue for IG and one that gives them access to grav. At least for MT and maybe an option for Russ.

And while I'm on Grav, while they are over their updating SM bike models, they should go ahead and through a gravgun in the sprue. Especially the Dark Angels bikes which could also use an update. Mainly to make them look like the bikes from DV. It really bothers my OCD.

**whoosh**

OT: New Dreadnoughts. Not a fan of the 30k ones and the current model is too boxy. Alternatively, keep the boxy look and make Dreads worth a damn.

Oooooookay then, setting aside the fact that I can't derail a thread by myself...

On-topic, the new Space Marine box set I want to see in 2017 is actually a Codex. Codex: Loyalist Space Marines. The release of this Codex would coincide with 5 other Codices going OOP and never being given a new version or referenced in any future WH40k rules.

At my desk

Instead of repeating all of the other things in this thread that I definitely agree should be done.

I'd like to see Chapter Upgrade kits for more chapters, or at least the more popular ones (like at least do the other first founding chapters). I am far from alone in the struggle of free-handing chapter symbols on shoulder pads and having to shave off Omega symbols from many things just to have a cool bit.

3000pts Blood Angels (4th Company) - 2000pts Skitarii (Voss Prime) - 2500pts Imperial Knights (Unnamed House) - 1000pts Imperial Guard (Household Retainers)

2000pts Free Peoples (Edlynd Fusiliers) - 2000pts Kharadron Overlords (Barak Zilfin) - 500pts Ironweld Arsenal (Edlynd Ironwork Federation) - 1000pts Duardin (Grongrok Powderheads)

Wargaming's no fun when you have a plan!

If one of those OOP codecies includes my favorite mutant deviants you are so getting a place in the black-list.

I don't break the rules but I'll bend them as far as they'll go.

Is your favorite Codex one of the following?

Blood Angels
Dark Angels
Deathwatch
Grey Knights
Space Wolves

If so, then you can find your new rules in the Loyalist Space Marines codex.

That tears it. When I can be bothered I am going to make a Voodoo doll of your avatar and throw it on a bull ant's nest.

I want to see a new Honour Guard kit. Include five Honour Guard with an upgrade to the Chapter Champion. Include one of each of the Power Weapons for each Marine (make the Power Sword look very elaborate so it can be a Relic Blade), a Chapter Standard, and a very ornate Thunder Hammer for the Champion. Each Marine would be in very ornate armor, complete with tabards and whatnot. Then release a new plastic Marneus Calgar in Terminator Armor separately.

I would also love to see another batch of Chapter Upgrades. This time do the remaining First Founding Chapters. They could get rid of a lot of different resin kits on the website as a result.

I'm actually not superstitious, so I'm not scared whatsoever.

And my avatar is a fictional character, so whatever you think your ritual is going to do will probably be directing its efforts to someone who does not exist.

Actually, what it will do is lure ants into my place to get more of whatever I made the doll out of. I think voodoo holds as much worth as threatening people online but I know how ants work.

Anyways, back on topic.

Really, the only Space Marine thing I want to see in 2017 is all the Loyalist Space Marine Codices being merged into one book with a common set of units.

The model ranges can all continue to exist, and it would make sense to keep labeling them with their Chapters' names since that's what the models are for.

What I would do with the Codex is to offer an enormous range of equipment options, so that all of the LSM kits can still find a use.

For example, Sanguinary Guard would be Honor Guard. Honor Guard would get access to Relic Blades and Jump Packs as options. The Sanguinary Guard wrist-boltguns would just be stylish boltguns.

I want to keep every kit useful and in production. But I want to combine all the LSM Codices into one. I would also ensure that all of the options in the Codex are generic. This would require reclassifying a large number of cosmetic features of models.

Oh, also?

I'd get rid of the four different power weapon types and go back to just "power weapon" rather than having separate stats for four different standard power weapons.

The whole point of being codex deviant is not using the same tactics as the Ultrasmurfs. That's why the Wolves, Angels and Templar were seperated in the first place.
Also, why does Deathwatch get a pass?

Deathwatch don't get a pass. They were included in my list.

Also, I don't consider deviation from the Codex Astartes to be sufficient reason to have a Codex all to themselves.

Sorry, I had what happened to the Black Templar on my mind and saw them instead of Deathwatch. Speaking of Black Templar what happened to them is plenty of reason to keep Space Wolves and Ultra Smurfs seperate - being lumped in with the Smurfs isn't much better than getting squatted.

I'd be happy to have a Codex Astartes Compliant codex and Loyalist Deviants codex but being Deviant by definition means diverging from the norm. Most of those five plus the Templar simply do not belong with the Smurfs.

I don't break the rules but I'll bend them as far as they'll go.

From a business perspective GW makes more money if they keep the separate codex's allowing them to charge $40 to $50 a book in comparison to making a combination book which they might charge...$100-125 a book. Not a lot of people would want to drop that much money for a book when they only need 1/6th of the book to play their army and would be more willing to drop $50 for a book with just the rules that they need.

Another way to do it is to have the "core" book and then the variations, BA, SW, DA and such as codex supplements like they did back in the day.

I'd actually like to see a new unit: something like a mishmash of Centurions and the Dreadknight, i.e. a unit equipped for close combat, but without the silly Dreadknight design. Something closer to Gundam style.

Tau might be more your style then.

OT: Dreadnoghts (again), copy the FW Ironclad dread for the Ironclad as the current one makes a better regular dread with extra armor upgrade and for the love of God, resculpt its (the current one's) arms, those things are just ridiculous.

Not really, the only Tau thing that matches that is the aesthetic, and even that's a stretch. The Tau suits are too blocky for my tastes, and they're a gunline army, no CC at all.
