I have been playing 40k on and off since 2001 one. The last time I played Warhammer 40k we were in 5th edition so I've been out of the loop for quite some time. Just wonder what new space marine box sets do you expect to see refreshed or want to see refreshed? I heard that the new assault squad came out not too ago, but not sure if and when the other squads has had their last refresh.

Maybe someone with more knowledge of 40k historical releases timeline and intervals of releases can share their insight. I am just curious which space marine box sets are due for a refresh and if we can expect to see it in 2017.

Not necessarily space marines but I'd love to see plague marines given a plastic kit, I'd love to see obliterators given a plastic kit, and I'd love to see them make a plastic model for Mortarion! Also a newly revamped/re-sized great unclean one in plastic to match the scale of the new thirster and lord of change would be excellent!

You and i would be great friends i think. thats exactly what i want to see too, the "leaked" mortarion daemon primarch looks sick. Id also like to see more plastic 30k stuff smoe leviathan dreads or dorreidos would be sick.

In the last 4 years, these kits were re-done, or introduced as new units:

Old:
Assault marines
Devastator marines
Tactical marines
Sternguard
Vanguard
Generic HQs

New:
Centurions
Stalker/hunter
Stormtalon/hawk

(assuming we are just talking about vanilla codex marines)

There are a number of plastic kits showing their age. Dreads, TDA, Bikes, Scouts, Speeders, Older tanks, command squad, multipart captain. There is also a chunk of resin/metal that needs to be switched over to plastic. LotD, TFC, tons of HQs.

What they do will probably be influenced by what campaign books they put out, or sales figures. I think we are also probably just as likely to see a new thing invented out of thin air, rather then an old kit redone. Or something ported over from 30k.

Yeah too blurry to really get a good idea of what he'll look like detail wise etc if it is an official picture even. Does give me home that he's next in line for daemon primarchs to be released though. One can only hope that the prince of death gets a justified model and stats that go along with his nastiness!

I don't really want to see Scouts updated because I like that they are relatively cheap but their sculpt is rather dated and scouts have some fugly faces.

Scouts, along with a lot of old kits, have very inefficient sprue layouts. I suspect they could combine both the sniper/normal scouts onto a single frame these days.

And give them faces not made out of potatoes at the same time.

I think Scouts getting updated is very likely. Maybe not right now or even this year, but I can basically guarantee they're on the list of things that have to get updated.
They're two different boxes right now and GW no likey that.

I can see them making the camo cloaks a piece that attaches to the model, or an "alternate back" allowing for Boltgun or BP/CCW camo cloak scouts.
Sniper Rifles, Boltguns, BP/CCW seem a given. I can see them rolling in the options that Wolf Scouts have as well (Plasma Pistols, Meltaguns, whatever else I'm forgetting) and putting them into the other books too.

I don't think Space Marines need anything new. If anything, their line needs some trimming to remove some of the bloat. Especially given how many books they have.

But that said, one thing they do need is for some of their kits to be consolidated or repacked to provide better support for the unit they're supposed to make. Dreadnaughts for example could use a redo just to ensure all the bits are available.

But I have a long list of other stuff (like the entirety of the Chaos Space Marine line) that need to come up long before we expand loyalists imo.

A Storm Eagle kit in plastic would be wonderful.

Scouts: Ugliest heads ever. And why can't I get a missile launcher with bolter scouts? They heavy bolter makes more sense to be included with the sniper scouts (same range, same targets).

Dreadnoughts: Give us the all weapons that they can take.

Centurions: Not a new box but $80 for three guys...

Have scout block heads been mentioned yet?

The only thing I'd really like would be some kind of mega-rhino kit that's got the parts for all the various rhino variants (or at least most of them) combined, or a kit with rhinos and another kit with the stuff to make the other rhino varients. Having spare rhino hulls and trying to play the "find an ebay lot with just whirlwind launchers and not full tanks" is not fun.

The extra armor kit in plastic would be nice too, FW is out of their mind if they think I'll pay 22 bucks for like 6 tiny bits of plastic.

I think we need a break from marine kits.

New Space Marine bikes. They're old molds with exactly one option: Antennae or no antennae.

Totally agree with the bikes, the marine legs are so small, I remember looking at them as a kid like 15 years ago and they are still pretty much the same. Anyone think we could use a refresh with the marines in general though after the 32mm base increase, I feel like they marines could be a tiny bit bigger maybe. But who knows, 40k is not really to scale anyways, especially the vehicles.

How about Rhino/Razorback with the missing three turrets (FLamer, TLAC & Las/TL Plas) in one kit. Call it the transport kit.

Then combine Predators and Whirlwinds (Baals too?) Into a heavy support/nin transport kit.

Rhinos/razors is the easy one. There is basically no reason to have a pure rhino kit these days.

Of the other tanks, how many can they cram into one box? The Whirlwind might actually be better in with the AA tanks. I think the pred/vindi would make a good box. They are both MBTs, or as close to it as marines get. The pred always struck me as odd. You stick a turret on top of what is otherwise a naked rhino chassis, and suddenly the AV values go up? The Vindi actually looks like it could take a hit or two.

Completely forgot about the vindicator. I think that's a great idea expansion as well though.

Razorback with missing turrets in one 'transport' kit (as it also makes the Rhino).

Predators and Vindicator in another as your 'tanks' kit. Don't really know how to address the extra front Armor for the Pred though.

Whirlwind, Stalker and Hunter as your 'artillery' kit.

Chucking all the Rhino variants (Rhino, Razorback, Predator, Vindicator, Whirlwind, Staker and Hunter) would be an enormously expensive kit, and you're left with a large number of bits you won't really use much.

I think an everything kit would be too much. But I think if they are recutting some of the older sprues, getting some of them into duel kits would work.

But you are correct. There are far to many things based on the venerable rhino to get them all into one box.
