Related to this, has anyone ever played with a Nidzilla list where every single MC on the board has Regeneration. I've always wanted to run a list like this, but always whimp out due to the high points it would cost.

I think the next high-points game I play with Nids I'm going to try this, for gaks and giggles if nothing else.

It's good, but double edged. You need some viable threat overload to keep them from simply focusing 1 MC a turn. You need something extremely aggressive to draw fire.

"There is a cancer eating at the Imperium. With each decade it advances deeper, leaving drained, dead worlds in its wake. This horror, this abomination, has thought and purpose that functions on an unimaginable, galactic scale and all we can do is try to stop the swarms of bioengineered monsters it unleashes upon us by instinct. We have given the horror a name to salve our fears; we call it the Tyranid race, but if is aware of us at all it must know us only as Prey."

I've tried the most basic version if Nidzilla.
Highly amusing but nowhere near competitive lol.

Old one eye

3 rippers
3 rippers

3 fex
3 fex
3 fex

Throw in some upgrades to round off and good to go.
If you have spare points though, any form of spore mine is great as it's a target they have to shoot rather than ignore.

Granted it's like trying to tear paper, but it's shots diverted away.

Fexs would be better though if you could run 3 in 1 HS slot all in pods.
Otherwise your eating all choices quickly.

On a side note, malanthropes aren't MCs but would be more than ideal in a Nidzilla list.

The version of Nidzilla I run most often is:

2 Flyrants

2 X 30 Termagants
2 X Tervigon

2 X 2 Venomthropes
Zoanthrope Brood as points allow

2 Hive Crones

2 X 3 Carnifexes (sometimes I run the CC-related formation...Crusher Node or something like that)
2 X Exocrines
2 X Mawlocks

So IIRc Regeneration is 30 points, x 16 MCs = 480 points to pull the trigger on universal Regeneration....that's alot of points for he other player to put on the board, and I've always been reluctant to do it. But next high point game I'm gonna suck it up and give it a go .

I never looked to hard at Malanthropes...I don't like working with resin or paying FW prices. Maybe I can try and convert a couple some day. I'm swimming in extra Tyranid bits.

Don't go wasting regeneration on a carnifex. You only start putting it on your 5 wound and 6 wound models. They are the ones that benefit from it the most. Take the points you save to buy yourself another model.

I see your point on Carnifexes, with relatively low wound counts

Come think of it, I'm not sure Regen would be good on Mawlocs either, because they start the game off the board and won't be taking any wounds Round 1, they always come into the game within shooting range and charge range, and are pretty much toast once they get locked into CC.

So maybe just Regen for the rest of the MCs

Part of me wishes Trygons had burrow. Start one on the board, burrow, then T2 have it spring up in the enemy deployment zone, and have both ends of the tunnel be marked. Babysit a tervigon, spawn a brood of gaunts, then run them through the tunnel and across the board.

You see? A few minutes of creative thinking and you've already come up with a much better rule than GeeDerps could.

For years people have complained about the tunnel rule being rubbish.

I just find it so frustrating that a few words errata could completely reboot so many units.

Hell, make us a new codex, I'll happily pay for it if it means we get a viable army other than Pentaflyrants.
