I like the look of Dark Eldar, a well painted Imperial Fists army, urban themed Imperial guard armies are great too.

Armageddon

Originally they were some of the goofiest looking metal oldhammer models ever (dat limo, I mean what even), but now genestealer cults look freakin' fantastic. The whole disgruntled alien mutant miners theme is top shelf. They almost feel like they could belong in another game universe and still make sense.

Sadly nobody plays them. Like seriously I can't find good pictures of any army online. Nobody in the gaming stores in my area plays them, let alone regular nids. Its a shame really. I'd start them myself if I didn't just buy and paint a start collecting nurgle demons.

If you're into watching battle reports online, I've seen a couple batreps with Genestealer Cults on the miniwargaming channel on YouTube.

I like them both. I liked Tau more before the giant suits, though.

As much as I love my Space Wolves aesthetics, my Orks win me over. They keep getting better making ridiculous Kommandos and great conversions of other models to create truly unique looks for each player.

2700 - The Fierce Eye's Hammer
2000 - Grukk's Wrekkin Krew
1850-Hellcrusha's Fist

Coolest looking models - Tau or Ynnari (really tough decision for me)
Best color scheme - Grey Knights (love how they shine!)

SG

40K - T'au Empire
Kill Team - T'au Empire, Death Guard
Warhammer Underworlds - Garrek’s Reavers

My favs:

Dark Eldar - Excellent sculpts! Hard mode on and off the table... you want difficult to build, paint, transfer and play? These are your guys/girls/monsters. Eldar are in the same overall paint vein, but more on the bright color spectrum (and waaaaay easier to build/transport/faceroll play). DE are seriously sexy.

Tyranid - Awesome sculpts, and the only true horde army (imho) that looks spectacular on the table. Lots of fun to build and paint, not nearly as hard as DE but no where near marine-level builds.

Sisters - My old loves that will never die. Some of the aesthetic is a tad overboard (exorcists...) but they still hold up overall. Let's face it, the Emperor loves his girls.

Runners up:

Orkz -- if you want to kitbash, these are you boyz. I wish GW would start giving love back to the sport of encouraging kitbashing and/or goofy rules for the greenskins. They seem to have gotten the shaft over the years

Chaos - Don't dig the fluff, but from a kitbash standpoint, oh so tasty.

Look up Wikipedia and see the short explanation for Gundam, you'll see why I used that name.

I don't break the rules but I'll bend them as far as they'll go.

Tau for me, followed by Adeptus Mechanicus - the latter because of the John Carter/War of the Worlds look to the vehicles.

Also a fan of Tyranids, and some of the most beautiful painted minis I've ever seen have been Eldar.

Is there any evidence to substantiate that claim or are you simply using this as an opportunity to demonize people who like the Tau? I, for one, like both.

Now back to the thread.

Tau are my favourite by far. I have quite a bit of nostalgia for the 80's (sci-fi especially), and I like aliens in any game where I can play as them. I also really like the chrome/fluorescent "Miami Nights" style of the 80's synthwave. Tau were the best fit for me to create an 80's themed alien army.

Harlequins are my runner up. Just love the motley look of them. Pun intended.

Forgot to mention I love the way Iron Warriors look too, World Eaters pre/post-heresy look great too, plus pre-heresy Emperors children are flipping Godlike, love the purple/gold scheme.

Demonising Tau would be an improvement, then they'd actually have justification for their mechanical combat suits being MCs rather than Walker Vehicles.
Look at any thread where somebody takes a dig at Nids for not belonging, you'll find those same people preaching their "Greater Good" doctrine in other threads

I like them a lot too, but they've got several old models that need to be updated with new kits. Scorpions, banshees, hawks, firewarriors, dark reapers, warp spiders... too old and almost monopose.
