Never mind that, check out the Lieutenant with the auto-bolt rifle. He has 2 long service studs in his head which means he has been around at least 25 years. Either there is a significant advance in the timeline into the 42nd millennium or a lot of these guys have been twiddling there thumbs on Mars and running combat sims for the last quarter of a century.

Or some of their officers are regular marines that underwent biological retrofits.

we also dunno if service studs mean the same thing to Primaris marines,

Luckily, all real Marines wear Helmets anyway. *cough*

Blood Angels, Custodes, Tzeentch, Alpha Legion, Astra Militarum, Deathwatch, Thousand Sons, Imperial Knights, Tau, Genestealer Cult.

I have a problem.

Being contrary for the sake of being contrary doesn't make you unique, it makes you annoying.

Is it weird that I'm excited to get lieutenants back? Because I'm excited that lieutenants are coming back.

I love that we'll be seeing minor space marine heroes again.

Also, given the size of the gravis armour, those are definitely the new-school terminator suits.

Further, some subtle design cues on the Interceptors implies that they're wearing gravis armour themselves (chest plates, leg style, etc. are all a dead match for the captain). The proof will be in seeing how they size up with other marines. But as a 3-man unit I think interceptors will be running gravis armour. They aren't space marine seraphim squads, they're flying terminator units.

They're absolutely wearing Gravis armor (I think. Could be wrong.). That coupled with their Gun-Shields, I'm expecting these to be surprisingly beefy, fast little units.

What other race has black eyes? Thats right, Tyranids. I bet a small portion of these new marines will implode and create a new faction of space bugs in space armor, ultranids.

I like the proportions. Dislike the size. Eldar, Orks, etc will be midgets in comparison once Primaris Marines become the standard, gradually over time. In a couple years, it could look very jarring...

Lol, don't tempt me! I have Librarian Biker that has fallen to Shadow in the Warp or other Tyranid Psychic shenanigans that it isn't even funny (like seriously, we're talking DOZENS here). I'm wondering if he may be descended from a Genestealer Cult at this point...

I'm really liking these marine models. They are really fitting the image I have in my head of what a space marine should be. As much as I know it would upset some people, I do really hope these become the standard marines eventually

Automatically Appended Next Post:
I also don't know how to add the picture, but if you look at the picture on the Warhammer Community site of the battle between the Primaris marines and the Death Guard, there appears to be a primaris terminator in the crowd. He is a massive looking marine in a different set of armor

gravis armor could well be the heavy terminator style armor. if so that makes the Interceptor squad easily the most unique space Marine unit we've gotten in ages. as space Marine assault units tend to run between one of two options slow and podnerous, but hard hitting, or light and fast. see assault termies or assault centurions as an example of the first and assault marines as the second. Now imagine these guys, their boltguns are a new type, called "assault bolters" and I suspect they're gonna be short ranged rapid fire. (18 inches maybe?) flitting abouty the place at a speed of 12 inches or so (assuming these are jump packs they have and not jet packs, if they're jet packs... ohh my we could be looking at "space marine crisis suits") winnowing away units, I'm gonna guess they're not really intended for outright CC but will do alright in CC.

And the more I look at them the more I'm convinced those are Jet packs not jump packs. the fact that they are flying on their base, combined with the "skis" their feet are on (which would make walking a pain) makes me think, those are indeed jet packs, which makes me kinda excited for what new toys could be in the future, jet bikes etc maybe?

Am I the only one who thinks these new marines would have looked really nice without the size change? I didn't think 40k was required to have a Stormcast-sized good guy force past the Custodes. Marines in the scale of the DV Chosen would have been great enough.

I'm OK with it, they needed to be bigger than they were. Primaris Marines are pretty much what marines always should have been both in proportion and rules.

My guess is that these actually are jet packs and the interceptors are actually a unit that will full on fly around the battlefield. The specific posing, flying base, and presence of auxiliary jets on the legs along with the skids on the feet all point to these being more than just jump infantry.

Time will tell of course, but these guys look like they aren't meant to touch the ground very often.

if thats the case once that sort of gets out I suspect you're gonna see a lot of attention paid to them, not only is this a genuine new type of unit added to the space marine arsenal, but it represents apparently new TECHNOLOGY for the IoM, they're big news. be very intreasting to see how they stack up vs Tau crisis suits.

Eldar and Ork Boyz should be smaller than Space Marines... so no problem for my part.

If you play Tau, you are already used to be the smallest child in the clasroom

The skis look like parts of the grav plates from the bottom of the Land Speeders. Grav Skis if you will.

Now we'll have Space Marines flying across the board yelling "Shazbot!" and "I am the greatest."

Chad Marines.

They do look good, and they're a step up from the last "new" introduction for Space Marines, the Centurions.

They're probably a bit pricier than the standard Marine to compensate for improved stats and weapons.

That said, the new "Age of Guilliman" Not-So-Grimdark universe might not be as dystopian and dark as the universe we grew up playing in, and I'm not that sure it's an improvement. They need to bring back Inquisitor Obiwan Sherlock Clousseau though.

Yes, smaller... but now they'll look like Squats!

hmm...maybe that's GW's sneaky way to re-introduce Squats. Just have all other races be midgets compared to the NuMarines...

Just noticed in the close up that the Gravis hero's helmet has Terminator/MK5/StarWarsStormtrooper cheek vents (which are missing from the Jetpack dudes along with the extra abdominal armour, putting a small crimp in the flying terminator theory)

there are some subtle differances yes so it's possiable it's two differant types of armor. but we've seen that level of variation among armor marks before. we're definatly gonna need the rules to confirm or deny any of our theories, but over all I suspect the inceptor squads are gonna be heavier, for one thing they're a fast unit capable of deep strikes, (the limited fluff we have says they drop from orbit thus I'm assuming they deep strike) with short ranged weapons, in small squads (squads of 3) they're gonna need to be capable of taking some heavy hits.

keep in mind when I say "terminator" I mean 2+ armor. not nesscarily "2+ armor with a invul save"
