If nothing else, Looted wagons formed a cool niche unit between a trukk and a battlewagon. I've always wanted to include a looted leman russ and hellhound in my army, in the style of the ones often shown in the codexes and here on Dakka. I was hoping GW would do what they did in 7th and add in a datasheet via White Dwarf or somesuch.
I'll be sure to follow their "New GW" philosophy and let them know though! Any of a similar mind should give them a shout - if they are listening as they say they are, and if enough of us ask for some distinct rules for Looted Wagons, we might be able to influence their decision making in the future.
Same as you, it was the project that i wanted to do one day

3 codex ago (I think, not sure how many) the looted had no generic rules. You choose a tank from other army, change the bs and could pay for any weapon the original had and add any extra from ork vehicles options.
And nothing bad happens. Was no break neither op. How could be op a weaker version of an existent unit? In the case it was op, then the original is ****ing break hahaha
And actually GW didn't lost a thing since orks players bought the models and then converse.
Also could be easy said that a vehicle with daemon special rule can't be looted.

I'd advise against it. The smaller model really doesn't sit well with a lot of other players. I plan to use them as counts as vehciles when the new forgeworld book comes out. Plus looted wagon have been really crap for a while, FW makes them a lot better.
Counts as orks xyz? Hmmm... I thought about just playing it as a big gun and not moving it but... I get what you mean cuz it is smaller than a battlewagon but I modeled the rear hatch down and added a huge front plow. It is still smaller than a battlewagon but damn pricey for a single killkannon...

Sorry GW, I don't want my rhino chasis vehicle to have the point cost and durability of a land raider. Isn't that also modeling for advantage? Why take battlewagons at all if I can take a bunch of 'counts as' rhinos that can easily hide behind cover? 40k chaos lords on demonic steeds have 8th edition rules, no models officially, but they were put in because they were a staple of chaos space marines. Looted wagons have been in the game forever and we don't get the same treatment?
I'm still salty about it. I guess we can wait for the ork codex in 2 years, but as an ork player I'm used to dissapointment.
You know, there's another ork vehicle that has a transport capacity, Little less durability as a rhino, one gun, and a point cost...gosh, it's on the tip of my tongue, what is that vehicle called....?

"Got you, Yugi! Your Rubric Marines can't fall back because I have declared the tertiary kaptaris ka'tah stance two, after the secondary dacatarai ka'tah last turn!"
"So you think, Kaiba! I declared my Thousand Sons the cult of Duplicity, which means all my psykers have access to the Sorcerous Facade power! Furthermore I will spend 8 Cabal Points to invoke Cabbalistic Focus, causing the rubrics to appear behind your custodes! The Vengeance for the Wronged and Sorcerous Fullisade stratagems along with the Malefic Maelstrom infernal pact evoked earlier in the command phase allows me to double their firepower, letting me wound on 2s and 3s!"
"you think it is you who has gotten me, yugi, but it is I who have gotten you! I declare the ever-vigilant stratagem to attack your rubrics with my custodes' ranged weapons, which with the new codex are now DAMAGE 2!!"
"...which leads you straight into my trap, Kaiba, you see I now declare the stratagem Implacable Automata, reducing all damage from your attacks by 1 and triggering my All is Dust special rule!" |

the new rulebok doesn't have any mention of modeling for advantage. So looted rhinos could work as Battlewagons.

The indices were always going to have "current production models only" as they stated early on.
I would be surprised if they didn't come back in the codex.

I'm hoping Forge World includes profiles for most of their old Raid On Kastorel-Novem book. Between Gun Wagons, Big Trakks, Mekboy Junkas, Gun Trukks, War Koptas and all the other stuff it seems like we should be able to find something fitting for "counts as" looted vehicles.
The Gun Wagon seems like it could be a good middle ground between a Trukk and a Battlewagon. I don't think Forge World makes it anymore, so maybe they won't include rules for it.

Love this Medusa gunwagon idea.
Would be a great kit for GW to sell, too.
Add a new unit of orks more like blood axes with a BS of 4+.
And a new unit of basically lootahs but with goggles in full leathers,
more cunnin than brutal:
Actually looking for pictures this is the one that I liked best, and it is a Mantic product!

I didn't really like having generic looted wagon rules anyway.
If it is so far away from a rhino / leman russ / whatever that it instead uses a generic entry, it should probably be filed under one of the existing generic ork vehicle entries anyway. Especially as most ork vehicles are thrown together from looted battlefield debris anyway.

Fine fine, and Weapons lose abilities.
So Flamers would no longer auto hit.

Dunno what other Ork vehicle I could use it for.

I have a looted Soul Grinder that's pretty badass. Has an ork sitting on the head with a blinder over its eyes and a big handle to try to direct it around and a bunch of other orks on platforms on its body to try to keep it under control.
Have no idea what to do with it aside from admire its craftsmanship on my shelf. Would be kinda weird looking in my Chaos army but is it even usable in my Ork army?
I also have a pretty sweet looted Baneblade that I'm in the same sort of situation with. I love the idea of orks looting other races vehicles!

Looting other people's vehicles what one of the many things that drew me to the Ork faction in 3rd edition -
Losing access to looting in general, coupled with all the fun and unique rules ("Red wunz go fasta") is really detracting; that said, it also doesn't really help that the Ork Index is mostly bunk at the moment...
I just want to loot other peoples vehicles - or at least have comparable equivalents (main battle tank, superheavy tank, hover junker).
