Just the fact that it's "the girl army" is reason enough to make plastic sisters and market them. Otherwise you'd have to somehow hear of and create an entirely Sisters of Silence army to have a girl army.

It's silly, but more appealing due to cultural stereotypes towards women players. They could get a whole bunch of new players interested in the game by having a relatable army. Even more so if they throw them into a start collecting kit and make it SUPER affordable.

This is a prime opportunity for haggling, really. If they've been sitting there for 10 years not moving, the store should be happy to move them at cost, or even slightly below cost. They're just taking up shelf space at that point.

I'm hopeful for Sisters in plastic, but given GW's track record I won't believe it until I see photographs of models.

Someone once produced photos of plastic Sisters a couple of years ago, iirc. Had a few people fooled. Until it turned out to be a Chinese recast

That would have been obvious from the photo, though. If it looked identical to old sisters, you know it's fake. They'll update the models, and if they're in plastic,

Maybe some clever git will render some sisters and print them out via Shapeways to troll the community, but it seems a lot of work for lulz.

No, because it's "Temporarily Out of Stock Online" and not "Last Chance to Buy".

That means they're still producing metal Sisters, and if they're still producing them I'd hazard that they're not planning on replacing them for at least 6 months. Considering that our product line tends to have most of its elements sell out online fairly quickly, and be re-stocked every few months, they might have a shorter timeframe between the time they stop producing metal figures and put plastic ones up for sale, but for the most part, because they're still actively making metal figures, I don't think we're getting plastic any time soon.

Guardsmen, hear me! Cadia may lie in ruin, but her proud people do not! For each brother and sister who gave their lives to Him as martyrs, we will reap a vengeance fiftyfold! Cadia may be no more, but will never be forgotten; our foes shall tremble in fear at the name, for their doom shall come from the barrels of Cadian guns, fired by Cadian hands! Forward, for vengeance and retribution, in His name and the names of our fallen comrades!

This just is not true women like co-op games not competitive games adding females to anything does not attract women.

There's tons of research on this women in general will play farmville over CoD every time no matter what you do, hunting and killing is a guy thing its the result of tens of thousands of years of human evolution.

Besides we've got three girl armies already they are called elder.

Gonna just have to second this post right here..cause no..THAT thinking is the reason there's less women in this hobby. People that act just like that. Plus it's all based on local stores. Ours plays double games almost every time because we'll end up with an odd amount of people or four people and one table. There's plenty of women out there that are REALLY into competitive games.

What? I've world in games for over 10 years and I can tell you for a fact that none of this is true. The main reason we don't see more female 40k players or wargaming players in general) is that wargaming as a hobby is incredibly uninviting to women, and often even hostile.

You'll please not i said in general #notallwomen and all that, every rule has it's exception but overwhelmingly gaming in all competative (one side will win one will lose) forms appeals to men.

Besides most Sisters players are so bitter and cynical at this point that it probably wouldn't work.

The people in the past who convinced themselves to do unspeakable things were no less human than you or I. They made their decisions; the only thing that prevents history from repeating itself is making different ones.

More like result of socialisation beginning from birth than encourages competitiveness in boys and nonconfrontationalness in girls. And of course the endless stream of abuse any woman who dares to play multiplayer computer games receives...

Growing to think SoB having no plastics for the most part at all is a combination of all GWs bad practices.

Okay, here's some things to consider:

- Many women actually do like competitive games.

- Many women are interested in playing 40K and other war games.

- Almost any female gamer you ask will tell you that games like 40K are extremely uninviting. Gw has done literally nothing over the years to attract female payers. Only a tiny portion of the game's models, and illustrations depict female characters. Female players are very often made to feel uncomfortable and unwelcome in gaming stores and play areas. Noe of this is inviting for female players. It creates a huge barrier for entry.

- Sisters of Battle have a broad appeal, but they especially appeal to female gamers because many gamers like to see characters that are like themselves, or at least represent themselves in a very general way. This may have escaped many male gamer's notice since nearly every GW product depicts male characters.

- Male players with ridiculously outdated ideas about female gamers not being competitive or interested in wargaming are literally a big part of the problem.

1) There is a statistical distribution of interests that differs along gender lines, but there are millions of women out there who love competition just as much as the most testosterone fuelled man. And I'm not sure anyone has been able to prove that representation does/doesn't have an effect on hobby interests.

2) On average, not as a rule. When I was at school, I personally knew two girls who enjoyed CoD a fair bit.

3) Lolwut. Elf =/= female.

Ahh the much repeated but completley unsupported narrative, everyone gets abuse online myself included gamers attack weakness it does not matter who shows it and if you dont have the emotional maturity and thick skin to handle that you don't belong in that enviroment.

The everyone gets a participation trophy method has failed in spectacular fashion as everyone knew it would just look at the sad state of universities like berkly, we have a whole generation utterly boned and ill suited for the real world where no one cares about your pronouns or if your gender fluid.

You want to be a gamer you learn to give as good as you get none of the women i play MMO's with would want this bubble wrap approach, you make a joke they'll give as good as they get.

You want to join a social group you dont force your way in and expect everyone to do things your way, you mold your behaviour to suit the existing dynamic.

You want a safe space tumblr might be more your speed.

The irony is so thick here you need an AP-4 weapon to cut through it.

This type of sexist perspective will never die, will it? Those "studies" you cite are flawed, and there are far more indications that prove women are just as interested in competitive gaming as others, but choose not not to partake due to the rampant open toxicity competitive gaming allows. Women don't avoid competition because they prefer cooperative games - its just that cooperative games have far less people interested in telling us what we do or do not like, what we do or do not want, etc. There's also the rampant toxicity that competitive gaming brings about, and to be quite honest, I would not be surprised if women avoid it all together because hateful slurs aren't all that fun.

Sexism is a poison that creeps into everything that is perceived to be “for women”, or better yet, not for us (as you suggest)  — to those who believe in it, it degrades everything. Stop believing this crap, please, for the betterment of all gamers.

This thread is beyond redemption.

In future, please do not derail threads about the Sisters of Battle with discussion of IRL sexism and whether women like co-op games, etc etc etc.

Adpeta Sororitas deserves better.
