It really can't mean "the single dice that have been rolled" as that is a grammatically incorrect reading in BrE both standard and every dialect I am aware of (which is an extensive group). This is because 'a' can not be properly applied to a mass or plural noun. A single sheep = 1 sheep. A single dice = 1 dice. It is obligate to add further language to modify this as is done in the case of, for example, trousers 'A single pair of trousers'. A single trousers is meaningless nonsense, as it would be using any plural in that grammatical construct. There is no grammatical ambiguity here, I'm sorry, but you are mistaken in your understanding.
