If they keep going at their regular pace, Marines will be 54mm scale in a few years, so they can do a Space Marine version of Inquisitor.

personaly I wouldn't mind, but not for the rules. Just to get some love for the inquisition

I always played it with 28mm anyway.

They did release that Warhammer Quest game that required a GM, but that is much less free-form than Inquisitor was. I think if they did a new Inquisitor they would probably move away from needing a GM.

But given the popularity of Frostgrave and interest in Necromunda, I could see a new version of Inquisitor doing well. It's a game where each player has an Inquisitor warband that grows and changes over time as they battle each other. But it's probably too similar in concept to Necromunda if you take out the GM.

For me it has always been a good source of fluff more than anything else. It's fething shame that they only got around to writing a book about the Thorians before pulling the plug on it all, as that was a damned good read.

If it were to make a return, GW would most certainly make it 28mm instead, I may be misremembering, but more than one studio member said that while 54mm was nice, it didn't do the game any favours.

In 54mm? Not a chance in hell. That game was an abysmal failure from a sales perspective. In 28mm? I doubt it.

That being said...they don't need to re-release it. The material is already out there for the small amount of people who are dedicated or interested in it.

Could they shoe-horn some rules into the new RPG to allow for use of miniatures? That I could see happening.

What gives you that impression, everyone was buying and playing it at the time, and its had a strong following since, even an adaption to inquisimunda.

I'd love to see the models brought back as collector's pieces - there was some really nice stuff in that range.

As a game though it was too uncertain what it wanted to be. It wasn't freeform enough to be a true RPG, lacked enough crunch to be a Necromunda style gang warfare game, required a GM but didn't really give them enough to do. The whole thing was half-baked.

I remember in the rule book they talked about some ultradetailed Wild West gun fight type games and I think that was what they wanted. A tense game where you're counting every bullet and sweating every roll.

But at the same time they wanted it to be ultracreative with no points, no limits and hey why not make a cyber ogryn out of the metal giant model.

Anyway it did give us the Eisenhorn books (don't forget he was originally just another Inq model) so there is that.

The RPG element failed at set up as it didn't include any sort of balancing/financial/limitation on warbands. Everyone just turned up with a Space Marine bodyguard!

If somebody insists on having marine just for fun of it here you could be sure that resulted in situation they got against them something mere marine isn't going to deal with. Sorts out marines from situations they weren't essential. As such they saw use mostly in grand finale's when opposition was something terrifying enough(another marine or daemon being common ones).

Ah the memories. Apart from epic most fun game I ever have played from GW. Terrain was only issue it had :-/

Too bad any rerelease would probably be killed by pricing. If you pay 20-25e for single plastic 28mm models these days(wasn't Inquisitor models around that price mark back then?) wonder what inquisitor models would cost now? 60e?

I don't think they'll do any miniatures that are any scale other than 28mm. By having miniatures that you can use in your games of 40k and AoS, people can 'double dip', which keeps the models selling. If you make a product that you can only sell one of, and that doesn't tie into any of their other stuff (cough-bloodbowl-cough) your potential for return is limited.

That said, there's a lot in the Inquisition that could really be updated. It's an often forgotten force, since we have Deathwatch (Ordo Xenos) and the Grey Knights (Ordo Malleus) but little to do with the Inquisitors that usually run those ordos. There's also the Witch Hunters (Ordo Hereticus) that ally themselves with Sisters of Battle often.

An Inquisitor box set that plays a game, lets you build some neat Inquisitor, Death Cult Assassins, Crusaders, Ministorum Priests, and other characters (and maybe even has some Sisters of Battle in there) would be a very welcome addition to bring the Inquisition back into 40k in a big way, while also being able to play whatever board game they concoct to go with it.

Judging by some things I've been researching and some comments from my local GW guy, I believe that this is VERY possible.
