Not sure about that.

I mean, its been around for about 4 years now, and is getting semi-regular releases.

CMON wants to make it work, so they'll certainly keep at it.

But sure, why not - if you want them, best to buy them when you can!

It's been around several years already, but their distribution woes have really hobbled it.

I'm extremely lucky in that one of the FLGS near me carries WoK and has a huge selection. They used to carry Dark Age as well but clearanced off all their stock before CMON revamped most of the models.

But they appear to have a good deal with CMON since they get new WoK stuff when it's actually still new and got like 6 copies Massive Darkness w/ all the KS stretch goals which is apparently a thing they do with some retailers?

But WoK is an outstanding game - probably my favorite wargame currently - I really encourage folks to give it a shot. It's so simple and can be played with anything from a handful of models up to like 50+. Plus all the rules are 100% free. It's a perfect secondary game. And aesthetically I can't think of anyone else that's doing what they're doing.

EDIT: Here's a crappy photo of the Patrol-sized Teknes force I painted up to take to the NOVA Patrol tournament last month. This game size can be between 8-16 models:

Is there a good online review of the game somewhere? I'm looking for a skirmish game to get my kids into, they enjoy Z:BP and I want to introduce them to gaming without a board. I was thinking of LotR but if WoK has rules they can grasp I know they'd enjoy the models more.

CMON has the rules for free online. They're only about the first 20 pages.

How old are your kids? WoK has some rather scantily clad models in it (exhibits A, B, and C). Not saying you should have a problem with models like that, but I know some parents can be sensitive to such things when it comes to what they expose their children to. But at any rate, I seem to remember WoK having the full rulebook available as a PDF on their website.

Totally your call as their Dad, and no idea what your kids ages are, but just an FYI that there are a lot of all but naked and heavily sexualized models in the Nasier faction.

Please pm me all messages about how I am an evil person that represses women, am a prude, they see worse at school etc. so this thread doesn't devolve into a mess.

Hopefully someone at C'mon is reading this thread full of people who want to buy the models, but can't for various reasons and they do something about it.

I was going to pick the factions for them, likely being Teknes vs Hadross so it can be pig people vs fish people with some interesting characters. I have a ton of human models I can proxy for other games/rulesets but the anthropomorphic models in WoK would grab the kids' interest more and I think they'd be fun to paint.

There's also Goritsi with the werewolves. They are rank 2 infantry so you need fewer of them and they are a good bit larger than a lot of the other infantry so they could be easier to paint.

Shame you're not in the DC area. I've been itching to run demos for people.

hope this isnt too old to post but has anyone figured out why this game is being supported so terribly?
i wonder how much longer its going to live?

i was cruising the net and came across several items i have never even heard of... where did these come from?
teknes hate forged titan
hadross immanid kraken
goritsi moonclave executioners
and several new character boxes including a pretty awesome catman and fish folk

what a shame to have to stumble upon stuff for a game i like.

I wish I knew the answer to that...

It is a shame, how poorly CMON is treating this property.

But then, they barely do better with DARK AGE, which is, presumably, their flagship Miniature game too...

Who knows?

Some of it may come down to the fact that CMON doesn't appear to make a lot of money on traditional miniature based wargames?

But then, CMON might not be making a lot of money on traditional miniature based wargames due to how poorly they are promoting/distributing/marketing/selling them too...

Who knows?

they've got a facebook page which does tend to get updates occasionally

https://www.facebook.com/wrathofkings/

(the latest was to say there had been yet another 'the factory didn't send what we'd asked for' incident which is going to mess up the CMON CyberMonday sale deliveries)

and an official site which tends to show the (theoretical) release of new stuff

http://wrathofkings.com/ks/

but I fear the failed relaunch of v2.0 with the new book (another factory didn't send stuff issue which meant even US stores didn't get stuff for 6 months + after it was meant to be out so most people had given up on it) means the game is kind of on life support

it also got really heavily marked down in the recent cybermonday sale (unlike dark age) which isn't encouraging

they also seem unable to get it into distribution over here in the UK, every new group they hand the line to fails to deliver (even when stock is available in the US), it's frustrating although somebody posted a UK store which did have at least some of the newer stuff in recently

The message that came out throughout the A Song of Ice and Fire kickstarter campaign was that CMON are going all in when it comes to promotion/organization/distribution of that game, not just in US. Apparently setting up a dedicated European distribution hub so that this doesn't face similar issues. Considering the sheer breadth of releases they have planned for this system they kinda need to push it outside the US as much as possible and presumably have a more receptive market considering the source material.

I've not got the book because all of the issues getting anything over here (ordered it in the CMON sale so some time in the new year from the sound of it), but it's more evolution than revolution from the sound if it with the story moving on too. I think the most major overhaul was motivations as the writers thought many of them were unbalanced

all the changes (I think) made it into the downloads dection of the main site http://wrathofkings.com/ks/ so unless you need a print copy the new book isn't required unless you want to read the background in it

Though some are here:

NEW WRATH OF KINGS RELEASES NOW AVAILABLE
November 17th, 2017

Within each house, there’s the elite of the elite. They’re those regiments of soldiers that go above and beyond in training and equipment. When they hit the field, the enemy trembles. Nobody wants to see them across the battle lines. This month’s releases for Wrath of Kings gives House Goritsi and House Nasir each one of these elite units.

First, there’s the House Goritsi Gotha Knights. They are the most honorable soldiers dedicated to House Goritsi, these monstrous warriors bring a new stalwart refusal to yield against any number of foes. Once the werewolves dig in their clawed feet, their deathcleavers bring a swift demise to those who test them. While much of House Goritsi is used to hit-and-run tactics, the Gotha Knights are more hit-and-hit-again unit. They’re the bullies of the battlefield, wading into enemy forces and taking them out with extreme prejudice.

So, what can possibly stand up to them? Well, House Nasir would say that their Firehawk Reavers could do the job. Dedicated assault specialists, Firehawks turn in their duelist’s blades for deadly war tridents to become the spearhead of House Nasier offensives. While they might appear slow, they can jump into action at a moment’s notice. They excel at moving from unit to unit, doing damage to the enemy forces. Their efficiency comes from their Raid Leader’s ability to negate enemy special defenses.

These two units are ready to take up their House’s banner and head to the battlefield. Neither one is willing to yield, and so when they reach the enemy lines, you know something’s about to break.

Ah, some of those things have made appearances in this thread - but it is good to see them again!

Of course, seeing them for sale in shops - or even online - would be even better!

And thanks for the pics!

I'm so sad this game basically died due to lack of support. It's a pretty spectacular game. The kickstarter actually got a community started here in MN but it's basically me and like 2 other dudes who just love this now instead of the initial 6-10 man tournaments we had. I still pick up a box of each release for teknes and shael-han because I love the models but I've long since given up hope this game will grow like it originally had the potential too.

Wow, I might have to pick up that Teknes Hate Forged Titan from their webstore (where it appears to be in stock). Really impressive!

Loving that Kraken, too

Yes, it saddens me as well that this game appears to be fading. Wonderful game design, IMO, and the models are mostly great. I backed the KS for most things and recently picked up a bunch of the newer stuff in the recent CMON sale. Even if the game officially dies at some point I'll have plenty enough to still play (which I will) with armies for others to play against me, too.

Yeah, I still have all of the KS stuff for everyone except Hadross (Sold them). I only buy the really pretty stuff for Nasier and Goritsi now. But I buy pretty much everything for Teknes and Shael-Han.

But yeah, I'll be able to play with a couple of friends forever but it's sad to see such a great game not reach anywhere near it's potential.

Same, I went all in on the KS, they delivered great minis and gameplay, but then... nothing. A few pricey resin releases basically to their webstore only. No presence anywhere. It's a shame.

I've been painting Shael Han and Nasier stuff these past couple of weeks and it's really making me want to actually try playing the game.

Sadly models from every faction have gotten use in other games, except the one they are intended for.

And if my Black Friday stuff would just show up...

Does anyone know if the 2nd book has any fluff stuff like the first one did?

Poorly lit photos of my ever- growing collection of completely unrelated models!

How is the fluff? Is it fun or campy? Dark or excessive?

The fluff is great and revolves around a jellyfish trying to get laid.

It's better than I make it sound, trust me.
