In Warhammer this was never a problem for me, as I saw Skaven and fell in love as a kid. I knew I never wanted to play anything but Skaven.

In 40k, there was never anything I *really loved.* I started with GK, cus they were pretty cool, then I jumped around, having brief flirtations with 1k Sons and Sisters of Battle... and then came Skitarii. And I've been selling off everything else, and I feel no need to go to anything else. As soon as I found an army that I really liked the aesthetic of, I was healed of this affliction.

I've had a similar problem over the years I've been playing 40k but try to keep myself limited by adopting the sith rule of two. There is always a master(main army) and an apprentice(possible ally force or something completely different). I also realized a long time ago that just because I don't like the current rules for an army doesn't mean that they'll be bad forever. A new edition or codex can swing things dramatically. I learned that the hard way when I first started in 5th edition with my Necron army. I also looked at the lore and model range for all armies and found the one I like the most(CSM). No matter how bad they are on the table I still enjoy painting them, and at this point I have too much to get rid of lol. I'd figure out which armies you care the least about, sell/trade them, and refocus on the armies you intend to keep.
