I voted elites as favourite because dreadnoughts are cool. That's all.

I really enjoy the boots on the ground, so troops for me as favorites, even, well, actually especially Tacticals. They may be bad in the game, but I just like them.

Least favorite: Superheavies/Lords of War. I still think they should be restricted for Apocalypse-type games (even though I have a Baneblade and plan on getting a Knight soonish).

Elites are my favorite, who doesn't love the veteran options, dreadnoughts, and terminators?

Fast Attack are my least favorite. I've never been too enthused with bikes, land speeders are too fragile, and assault marines are too outclassed by Vanguard vets.

Favorite are probably troops.

Last favorite by far are flyers. Even superheavies annoy me less... though they, too, are problematic if the opponent was not notified in advance.

It's a tough call.

Heavy Support has Basilisks, Manticores, Wyverns, Medusae, Leman Russes, and Exorcists in it.

Fast Attack has Dominions and Seraphim in it.

I have to go with Heavy Support.

For me there're zingers in every slot but troops have always been my favourite. I'm still not convinced flyers belong in this game.

I voted least favourite Elites because I feel the slot doesn't really have a place in the game curently. It's a hold over from the conversion of fantasy with basic,elite, rare.

Most elites are slightly better bu more expensive troops (csm chosen), tank killers/heavy support (fire dragons), etc.

As others have said, it really depends on the army, but overall I'd say I utilize heavy support the most, and elites the second most. Conversely, I almost never use fast attack, and I usually don't like having to take more than 1 HQ. Troops depend solely on the army. For example:

Chaos: Love heavy support. Predators, forgefiends, maulerfiends, havocs, defilers, all fun stuff. Their elites are fun too, but I love dreadnaughts and terminators. Don't really like their troops, they feel a little like a tax. Almost never use fast attack choices, though I'll use a squad of raptors or warp talons if I want to change things up. Their HQ choices are ok. I take a chaos lord and a sorcerer, nothing more, nothing less.

Dark Eldar: I really like their basic troops. I'm always happy to take more raiders and load them up with kabalite warriors. Their elites are cool as well, and decent, as well as some amazing models. Their heavy isn't as varied as some others, but I do like ravagers and talos's, so I fill up the heavy support slot quickly. I hate their HQ choices and they totally feel like a tax. I can't help but remember several editions ago where my Archon was an absolute terror on the battlefield. For one of the fastest armies in the galaxy, I really never liked their fast attack choices. I used to like reaver jetbikes, but not so much this edition.

Orks: Again, really like their basic troops. Always fun drowning the battlefield in dakka and shell casings with 90+ shoota boyz. The prevalence of -1 to hit with shooting is putting a damper on that though. Their heavy support is also fun; kanz, loots, battle wagons with deff rollas and wreckin balls. Their elites are Nobz, who are fun to play. Don't like their HQ really. 1 Warboss is all I'd ever want to take. They are, however, the only army with a flyer I like. I love my Dakka Jet with a pilot that looks just like the Red Baron. I call him the Green Baron! (creative, I know...)

Ad Mech: One of the most interesting elite slots I've ever seen, between robot ninjas, electric monks, emperor-palpatine-lightning-hands monks and taser bots. Heavy slot isn't very diverse, but I really like the kastellan robots, and the dunecrawlers are good. Troops are meh, but I like their aesthetic. Couldn't care less about their fast attack. If I could get away with it, I would take 1 tech priest dominus and no other hq choices. Fells like a waste of points adding any more hq.

After typing all that I kind of want to change my favorite vote to elite.

I like heavy support (and dedicated transport) for the grav tanks. I love my sleek shiny grav tanks.

I don't own any Lords of War, so that's my least favourite by default.

Other than that I play all battlefield roles, though usually only enough troops to unlock a certain detachment.

Lords of War. Big super tanks and stompy robots are cool and sci-fi.
