Squad of Inceptors done!
I found these guys a bit of a slog, probably because they're about 3x the surface area of a regular Primaris Marine, and hard to hold/paint, especially in sub-assembly, without rubbing paint off the feet. I really quibbled on the gun shields, but opted to save time and keep them plain because of how long these guys were taking me already. My biggest regret is probably not painting the heads separately to give them some gunmetal work on the respirator tubes to give the heads a bit more definition and stand out a bit more amid the big orange hood and collar.
Anyways, I won't be rushing out to paint more Inceptors any time soon, though I still have some from my 2nd DI set. I could probably bang out 10 regular marines in the time it takes to do 3 of these guys.

Fantastic! I can totally believe that it took that long to paint those three, but your effort was well worth it. Excellent photo, by the way, the metallic orange really shows here. Keep up the amazing work!

Thanks Cosmic. I'm trying to push to get through the Primaris side of my first Dark Imperium before I go back to Nurgle stuff for a while. Hellblasters are next, then I'll finish off with the two other characters (Ancient and Lieutenant). My enthusiasm is winding down a bit (as it does) for orange-orange-orange, but I'm soldiering on for now.

Long time since the last update, and I've decided to ally some AdMech and Imperial Knights with my Knights of Gryphonne. In fact, it's all things Gryphonne, with Admech from the lost forge world of Gryphonne IV, and Knights seconded to the Legio Gryphonnicus, which may or may not have escaped the Fall of Cadia. Anyways, time for the trial miniature!
Okay, so a Skitarri Ranger Alpha with Arc Pistol and Power Sword. Turns out Skitarii are plenty fiddly and cream robes are a bit of pain in the behind. I started by assembling the model in two parts - legs w/ base, and torso/robes/arms/pack/head. This makes painting the inside of the robe and the legs very easy. Primed in black and airbrushed on GW Leadbelcher Air. The good news is that Mephiston Red goes over metallics pretty good, 2 thin coats to a fairly solid red. Cream colors, not so much. Two coats of Zandri Dust and 2 coats of Screaming Skull to get a decent coverage - though I'll probably go with 1 coat of Zandri Dust in the future, as it's almost all under the Screaming Skull.
For the bronze aspects I'm using Balthazar Gold followed by Druchii Violet and some highlights of Shining Gold. Vajello Andrea Blue and Deep Sky Blue for the sword/eyes/sensors.
There's just so much detail on these packs I despair of painting it all, so I kept it mostly gunmetal. The next group of Skitarii I assemble, I'll keep the packs separate, though the packs are body specific so that means more work keeping track.
Just like my Knights of Gryphonne, I"m using GW textured bases - this time Sector Imperialis as Sector Mechanicus doesn't come in 25mm. I did the grating in Leadbelcher, as with the robes and whatnot it's enough to stand out, though the edge is in Reaper Adamantium Black like the KoG ones.
I tried to do a bit of glowy energy on the Arc Pistol but it didn't work out. There's some Agrax Earthshade on the pistol body/grip to make it look more like wood, though it doesn't work to well on this model, but it looks a lot better on Galvanic Rifles. I'm tempted to paint the gun body red to make it stand out a bit more.
And the boys from Gryphonne standing together.
I skipped any orange/yellow striping on the legs for this model, simply because it would not show given the position. Thought about the red cogtooth detail on the robes and rejected it keep my sanity intact.

Thanks, I have too many projects on the go. My Tau are in a good spot and I'm burnt out on painting Dawnstone.

The first squad of Skitarii are done.
I went ahead and painted the body of the Arc Pistol red to make it stand out a bit more. Probably not the most optimal weapons load out for a squad, but the guns will get shuffled around once more squads are finished. Note the Transuranic Arquebus is on a larger than normal base, the normal base doesn't have a Sector Imperium equivalent.
I did skip the orange striping on the legs entirely. There's so little exposure that I feel it's a pointless addition.

Tech Priest Dominus:
This model is just plain cool. There's so much going on and it's one of the few HQ models that carries around some decent ranged weaponry. I chose a Macrostubber and Eradication Ray. Technically I suppose I should have made the armor either gunmetal or cream, but this model has so much of those colors that the red armor really helps break it up.
The base is a piece of Sector Imperialis large base scatter elements. The TPD comes on a 50mm base and there's no Sector Imperialis equivalent, and the 40mm seems a touch too small and the 60mm is way too big, though I could have thrown in some basing elements. The plate doesn't overhang the 50mm too much.
I was a bit concerned about the servo skull, as I'm using Bleached Bone for the robes. To make it different there's a basecoat of brown under the skull's bone layer, and I did a flesh wash on top of the bone to give it a slightly different tone. There's not a ton of shading on the robes - just some of the basecoat in the deepest crevices and some white highlights in a few places. It's hard to get a natural looking cream cloth.

You know, for a robot babysitter, the Datasmith is pretty heavily armed.
I thought about putting more red into the collar to break it up a bit but it's really fiddly. I think the brass re-breather helps somewhat.

I think I made his one fleshy eye a bit too big.
And I notice that I need to re-do the wash on the drill, as I had to correct some rubbed off paint. Oops.

And some mechanicus terrain. First some crates:
The Kill Team Kill Zone tempted me to get some of these things. They're good LOS blockers, stack-able, and small enough to still be used as objectives if you're so inclined.
I thought about doing more metallics, but I sort of like how big and blocky the red is, and I didn't want to spend forever on them. This was primed and basecoated with airbrush, then wash was painted in the crevices and I used GW Astorath Red dry technical paint to drybrush them followed by a few metallic elements.
Automatically Appended Next Post:
And finally the freaking huge Galvanic Magnavent.
So big I can't illuminate the whole thing at once. Note the central stack isn't glued in place. I'll probably build a base to hold this terrain piece permanently.
I kept the exterior armor cream colored to match my AdMech forces, but I like the red boiler/stack a lot, so I'll probably to a lot of that for further pieces.
The dangly skull crane is the best bit, though.
All the armor plates aren't glued in place, they fit kind of snugly and I don't see myself removing them often.
Most of the piece was just basecoated and washed, but the floor was airbrushed brass into the crevices, then I drybrushed back up the base metallic and gave it a serious overall wash with Agrax Eartshade. It looks more mottled but would it have been tons more work to paint it super clean.
Tech Priest Dominus Approved.

Okay, back on the KoG train. These guys have been sitting under my table for probably a good 7 months, half finished, as I was burnt out on orange. I finally decided to get off my butt and finish them. I think part of the problem was there's really only 3 sculpts across 5 models.
Originally I was going to do the plasma rifles in green, but since I was souping with AdMech using blue plasma, consistency won out.

Time for some character conversions! I didn't want to spend $135 CAD for a Chaplain, Librarian and Apothecary models, so I decided to convert some Dark Imperium models instead. First off, the Librarian:
Built off the Gravis Captain body with an arm swap to a pointy finger and a repositioning of the sword arm to change the silhouette. Also removed the Iron Halo and ammo belt. It's got a psychic hood and a black sword, which is good enough for me to run as a (non-Gravis) Librarian in power armor. Blue cloak rather than doing the librarian in blue. Originally I planned on some glowy psyker powers going off, but I got lazy.
For me, a Force Weapon's gotta be black and not very shiny. It's a soul sucking void, after all.
Next up, an Apothecary. This was a regular Primaris marine with open hand and rifle. I stole a Riever grapple launcher and made it into a fancy Reductor Pistol with an armor piercing lance on the business end for cracking open Space Marine armor. I used the Gravis ammo belt from the Captain and a Skitarri taser lance to make a mechadendrite electrostimulator and some more Skitarri bits to make a lamp. Paint parts of it white (even got a red cross in) and Bob's your Uncle.
I also gave him an old Space Marine Auspex Scanner so he can track the wounded down.
And finally, a Chaplain.
This model took his Absolver Bolt Pistol from a Betrayal at Calth bolter and his Crozius Arcanum from the BaC chaplain model, cut apart to fit into a normal Primaris arm. Add a Riever head for skully goodness, the Iron Halo from the Gravis Captain (it's a Rosarius, really!), tons of Riever purity seals and an inverted palette of mostly gunmetal instead of black and you've got one sinister dude.
And a group shot of all 3.
I did an Ancient at the same time, though the banner has me bogged down and I'm considering re-painting the banner, so it will be a while.
