No.

The "Agents of the Imperium" army list includes things like Death Cult Assassins and Henchmen/Acolytes along with the Inquisitors themselves.

I don't understand. Did Space Marine<Chapter> negate the need for a space marine codex? There is still the Ordo,Ministorum, etc. keywords.

In short, Nope.

I'm expecting in 2018 we'll start seeing consolidation of some of the faction's models and several older minis (anything metal or resin) stop being produced. As I understand it, that would be most of the inquisition models, for one thing.

And more Primaris units to fill in the perceived "gaps" in that army, culminating in a Primaris codex around June.

I really hope this isnt right, that would mean deleting several Dark Eldar units, All of the Eldar aspects, and cutting most of my Inquisition force... neutering 3 of my armies. For that reason alone I suspect this wont happen. I mean, look how long metal sisters have been produced. I'd rather nothing change then axeing all my units.

True, and I'm just being devil's advocate here, but the Marine codices brought faction wide rules. All I can see an agents of the Inquisition "codex" bringing is a few more wargear options than anything at a faction level.

Surely it would be better for Inquisitors to impose a rule on the force. Release downloadable rules for single units (e.g. Marbo) rather than a mismatched book.

Agents of the Imperium was sort of needed due to the 7th edition army building rules. You don't really have that issue in 8th.

I'm not holding my breath.

Though I'm actually completely fine with the Index-rules for my Imperial Agents.

Man, those guys don't win my battles alone but they certainly complement my playstyle extremely well.

I don't think I've ever had more fun than playing my inquisition army. I'd like to see an "Inquisition Codex". But I don't expect it. However, GW would be silly not to release an "Agents of the Imperium" book that works as more or less an updated / consolidated index for the micro factions. I wouldn't expect this book until the "Codexes" are done. AKA all the factions teased in Chapter approved.

Combining Inquisition with Sisters of Battle wold work, but so would combining them with Grey Knights or Deathwatch or even Guard.

One thing that GW's rules writers talk about on twitch is that as soon as the Codexes are done they plan to bombard us with campaign supplements like in previous editions. An Inquisition campaign supplement might have some appeal to a GW. Vaulting off Greyfax to move the plot forward a bit. It would definitely be a better way to handle Sisters of Silence and Custodes, since they don't really belong with Inquisition and Assassins. They don't really belong together all that much either, and you've got to assume that is what they plan to do with Ynarri. I'm very open to campaign supplements as a way to advance the fluff and introduce limited score rules enhancements. I just hope they do go all in on rules bloat for the sake of rules bloat like they did in 7th. Inquisition should get 2-3 stratagems, not 25.

I'd like to see new models allowing us some easy customisation and interchangeablity with other models, I don't see that happening. What I would expect would be a general Imperium codex detailing rules for a bunch of models already available that don't fit in anywhere large enough to have their own full army list.

Assassins, Custodes and Sisters Of Silence all spring to mind as ones they could shove in there. Give Inquisitors rules to take over detachments from other Imperial armies and apply unique buffs or stratagems, some new rules or relics for other guys, and it's enough of a new hat that people will buy that Malibu Stacy.

The indexes were a way for GW to make an additional $25.
A codex is a way for GW to make an additional $40, from the same people.

I like the idea of lumping everything together and giving unique abilities to armies led by inquisitors. That's about the best we can hope for.

arguably. on the other hand, I could see a codex devoted to a number of smaller factions within the IoM giving them some war lord traits etc.

such as you'd have a codex with sections on the inqusition with 3 warlord traits and relics, a section on sisters with 3 warlords traits and relics, and a section on talons of the emperor with 2 warlord traits and relics.

basicly something to give smaller armies some of the tools of the big codices while keeping em on the same level. Talons of the emperor, for example, don't need a zillion stratigiums, but a handful could be handy

Opinions are not facts please don't confuse the two
