A couple of million unprotected, unsuspecting psykers that constantly pull power from the warp to power their technology show up in a nice cluster all at once?

There'd probably be a new eye of terror due to the instant mass daemonic incursion ripping open the fabric of reality, but I highly doubt the actual protoss race would exist beyond that point in any shape or form.

I guess that's part of it, right? In Protoss land, they don't use the Warp. I would assume this means they would keep not using the Warp even if transplanted.

It depends on how protoss psionics would be adapted to fit in the rules of the 40k universe. I agree it would be the most constructive to handwave this as "the protoss' tech and abilities keep working, but they don't get eaten by daemons". Less amusing though.

This does make me wonder about the relative power of 40k psykers when compared to the protoss. How would a farseer fare against an archon?

A Protoss colony world

Someone should make a fan-codex of Protoss with 40k rules. That would be awesome! It's probably already been done, perhaps right here on Dakka somewhere. Hell, they've probably done one for the Terrans and Zerg too.

My armies (re-counted and updated on 11/1/23, including modeled wargear options):
Dark Angels: ~15000 Astra Militarum: ~1200 | Adeptus Custodes: ~1900 | Imperial Knights: ~2000 | Sisters of Battle: ~3500 | Leagues of Votann: ~1200 | Tyranids: ~2600 | Stormcast Eternals: ~5000
Check out my P&M Blogs: ZergSmasher's P&M Blog | Imperial Knights blog | Board Games blog | Total models painted in 2023: 40 | Total models painted in 2024: 7 | Current main painting project: Dark Angels

I used the Deathwing rules for my terran force.

Evening for all the lovely terran light vehicles

Also had Zealot support in as assault terminators

Would love to see a conversion guide for those marines.

And in the game it's just 2 (with proper micro). 2 Marines take a Zealot without Stim or Combat Shields.

Is it still the same if the zealot has charge though? That will give him a speed boost that will make it much easier to kill the marines.

Let's just look at the humble Zealot first. Think Jedi Knight precognition but 10 feet tall, fully armored, fully shielded with weapons capable of cutting through literally whatever you put in front of it like it were made of paper.

Fully armored? Fully shielded yes, but they have plenty of exposed skin!!!

Protoss would kill the Emperor, eat the Ctan, eliminate all the orks in the galaxy and then die to tyranids.

Fenix was killed by a single hydralisk in an SC1 cinematic. To be fair he did lose power to his Psyblades because the Zerg Swarm overran their warp generators or something.

I'd like to think that was a Hunter Killer that ended him instead.

Good grief. Turns out I started them 7 years ago... still haven't done much painting with them... I blame the kids.

I suppose it could be handwaved for 40k-laws that the three types of Protoss work as Psykers in a separate manner: The Khalai are more akin to Orcs or Eldar, synchronized in a common psychic communion that is still nonetheless anchored. The Nerazim draw straight on the Warp innately, perhaps from numerous shadow realms (how Dark Templar and Mandrakes react to each other would be amusing), while the Tal'darim would need a good substiute for Terrazine: The idea of Protoss on Warp Dust or Spook injectors is scary enough!
