Ok, well I'm not looking for an internet fight, so whatever.

Anyway, I think Azrael summed up the general topic nicely
No, it's just the small scale of the industry as a whole makes it easier to keep track and become aware of, and the fact that it personally matters to people because it's a hobby many invest not only cash but a great deal of time and mental energy into.

It's a matter of scale. None of the fields I've worked in are as small scale as gaming and there's no way I could have heard about all the possible scams, cons and troublemakers.

But when it's one company out of a dozen or twenty, especially ones whose names are/become prominent (either by being big or through KS hype) it's pretty easy to see these problems and they're talked about a lot.

I prefer to buy from miniature manufacturers that *don't* support the overthrow of democracy.

I think after being stung a couple of times (HQ25, AvP) I'm now generally a bit more cautious. These days just go in for ones you know 100% will deliver (CMoN etc) or small niche/garage KS's that are small scale enough that the producer will have to have a pretty impressive level of incompetence to cock up.

Being able to look at prior projects (a quick search on their success and forum comments etc) I think also helps reduce the risk.
